"As of Monday, there were 1,878 players in the portal, according to the list kept at VerbalCommits.com. That number includes 78 Atlantic 10 Conference players, a total that doesn’t include a couple players who entered the portal and then returned to the same school, like Gibson Jimerson, of Saint Louis.

All 15 A-10 schools have seen players enter the portal. Some programs have been hit worse than others.

• Dayton and Massachusetts both lost three of their top four scorers to the portal.

• La Salle’s entire starting lineup entered the portal.

• Rhode Island lost four players who started 10 or more games.

• Saint Louis lost two double-digit scorers as new coach Josh Schertz revamps the roster. Schertz brought two of his top three scorers from Indiana State, Robbie Avila and Isaiah Swope, to Saint Louis.

"11. Robbie Avila

Old school: Indiana State | New school: Saint Louis

Avila became a college basketball cult hero while earning all-MVC honors as a sophomore. The 6-10 center averaged 17.4 points and 6.6 rebounds on 53.6% shooting for an Indiana State team that finished 32-7. Avila is great around the rim but also shot 39.4% from 3-point range on 4.2 attempts per game, which makes him a rarity among bigs in college basketball. He is following coach Josh Schertz from ISU to Saint Louis."

"58. Max Shulga

Old school: vcu | New school: Villanova

Shulga is a seasoned veteran who averaged 14 points and 3.6 assists on 41.5% 3-point shooting for vcu last season after following coach Ryan Odom from Utah State. He can play on or off the ball and is strong in the pick and roll."

Quick breaker on Max Shulga…. He was on campus recently and planned to move this week. vcu stepped up its NIL offering, and so Shulga is going back to coach Ryan Odom. A reminder: commitments mean nothing when you’re in the Wild West.

Max Shulga withdraws his commitment to Villanova and plans to return to vcu
The 6-foot-4 guard has opted to return to the Rams and coach Ryan Odom. The Wildcats learned of his decision on Wednesday.

"Shulga, a 6-foot-5 guard, committed to Villanova earlier this month and was going to be a key addition to the Wildcats, who needed his playmaking and shooting ability. But Shulga never really wanted to leave vcu, according to a source, and when the Rams came up with more money, Shulga opted to return to the Rams and coach Ryan Odom, whom Shulga has spent the last four years with — first at Utah State and then at vcu."

Not really an A10 "transfer" but some background on DaRon Holmes:

DaRon Holmes II, Dayton Flyers

The vibe coming out of the combine last week was that Holmes looked very likely to remain in the NBA draft, which has been the expectation before last season. He told Sports Illustrated he doesn't "fully know" his decision but is "way more confident" about staying in the draft. Holmes attended the combine for the second year in a row, but opted not to participate in scrimmages. He's ranked No. 52 in ESPN's top 100, but put up All-American-caliber numbers as a junior: 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks. At 6-foot-10, he shot 38.6% from 3-point range. Dayton would be a borderline top 25 team with Holmes back in the fold.
