Totally forgot my convo with Andy Ruge up at Brooklyn this past year, we discussed a lot of stuff Mason struggled with and one was Homecoming. Asked if they ever explored moving it to Fall and they did like 10+ years ago when Hewitt was coaching.
He basically said the logistics to pull it off wasn't ideal due mainly to attendance reasons.... he mentioned they have to compete with college football and other outside things/events/Thanksgiving breaks/etc. that could distract from getting the most fans to a game and also the student and alumni planning committees weren't onboard - Spring gives them much more time to plan and execute schedules and agendas from an office and logistical standpoint to prepare for this event - it is a week long event, not just one game. Full staff doesn't report until August and that's not enough time to plan such a big event as homecoming in 2-3 months. He laughed and said no one does work in the summer so it would be tough to pull off a Fall Homecoming.
Would be cool but they would need probably need a year to plan if they did decide to move it.... I mean this is Mason after all gentlemen.
