If Duane leaves, I would hope Kim brings on Lamar as the No. 3 assistant and starts building out our coaching tree.

Lamar is gonna get a college job at some point. Given his connection to the PVI kids we’re recruiting and others in the DMV, seems like a no-brainer.
Wouldn't bother me.

And if they do take Simpkins as an assistant, I'd gladly take Jamion Christian.
Now that would be interesting. So Christian would go from telling Nate to F off last game and then refusing to shake his hand during the post game handshake line to working side by side. I guess crazier things have happened.

We want excitement, don't we? ;)

Can’t see Christian taking a No. 3 assistant’s position, particularly at Mason. And not for nothing but he’s kind of a phony dickhead and I’d rather not have to root for him.

Yankees pitcher Cole is now teammates with a guy who basically accused him of cheating because his numbers went down after a rules change last season.

No definitely not. I'm just having a bit of fun. I blame the caffeine.

Butler is one option.

I’m curious how Ike Tate has been going as a GA? He’s been there two years and usually you can drag a masters out a max of 3 years so his time as a GA is almost over. Could we see Tate get promoted?

Mizzou Man

Walk-On
Dennis Gates would be a home run hire for Mizzou!

Ok, full disclosure - I don’t know anything about Dennis Gates, I just know he’s not Kim English.

I think he is a good hire for us. Under the radar a bit for the fans but Gates is well respected in the basketball community. When we hired Cuonzo, he had been at Tennessee and Cal and taken both to the tournament but you knew he was a high floor, low ceiling kind of coach. Gates has a lot wider range, which is scarier but also exciting.

I am happy that it looks like Kim English will be back at GMU next year. If I was our AD, I would have gone after him pretty hard, but I get it. And who knows what he would have said. It probably wouldn't have been a mere formality if he was offered the job. As long as he isn't the coach at Mizzou, I don't see anywhere better for him to be than in Fairfax. Basketball was rough this year for us and it soured me on watching other teams play like GMU. I look forward to watching the Patriots play more this next year.

Ike isn’t nearly as connected as Lamar in DMV recruiting circles. I don’t see it.

Why not Tony to become the head man at Saint Peter’s when the current guy leaves for Seton Hall?

Less money, for one, and would you want to follow the guy who just led a 15 seed to at least the Sweet 16? Seems like an impossible standard to live up to at a school that will still have many structural roadblocks to sustained success.
To me this makes sense because of Tony's experience in NJ/NYC recruiting under Williard. Plus if he can keep winning its a good tryout for Mason in a few years as a head coach. I definitely have thought of this idea but it just depends if he wants to be a HC or if he would rather go back to the DMV and be under Williard.

Taking the Saint Peter’s job is definitely the riskier move from a career perspective. The W’s and L’s go on your record and if you don’t win, it will be difficult to move up to a better job.

At Maryland, Tony can bolster his profile as one of the “hot young assistants” with no risk and potentially bypass the MAAC level altogether for his first HC job.

Dont disagree and no idea what will actually transpire. Any job has risk and obviously St Peter's has a good bit of it.

It's just a matter of what Tony wants at this juncture and where he wants to be. If I were St Peter's, he'd be my first call once Shaheen jumps, but that's me.

St. Peter's plays in the Run Baby Run Arena?!?!?!

I don't know, I'm liking this school more and more.
