Umass was picked before us... UMASS will be terrible this year. I was told Tulane is a tournament team by our resident insider. I will bet any type of money that is not the case. you like the rest like to antagonize but like the rest aren't ever confident to put $$$ up and lose.

Ha, I don't think Tulane will be an NCAA team. I don't know enough about them to call that out and I know you aren't referring to me. I just always said they wouldn't be terrible and that they could potentially be a nice top 100 NET out of conference game.

Umass was picked before us by Kevin Sweeney, not the coaches. Media day isn't until tomorrow which is the official picking by coaches in the league. In my opinion they always have hype year after year, and usually finish between 8-10.

Unless they absolutely shit the bed in the non-conference, fourth place in the AAC could position Tulane to be a borderline Q1 game for us even on a neutral floor. That’s not nothing … as we’ve discussed, we need everything to break right for this schedule to be bid-worthy.

Find where I said they would be a tournament team.

I said they were a mid-tier AAC team that would very likely finish in the top half of the league. You said they were a low-tier AAC team because of their recent history (like that has anything at all to do with this upcoming season).

Lo and behold they are picked 4th in an 11 team league. Mid-tier. Top Half.

Website run by Ken Pomeroy who has developed a set of analytics that a lot of data heads love. It’s an alternative to the NCAA’s NET.

Would be nice to not have any 300+ teams on our schedule, but there are 4 top 100 teams in the A10 in KenPom’s preseason ranking and that’s 6 games (4 away) for us. Plenty of opportunity in the conference to get good wins so long as they don’t screw up the OOC.

my personal preference would be not to schedule teams with a KenPom above 250
with that 250 number being lowered to say 200 as the team improves

It makes me wonder what the average KenPom and the dispersion/deviation measures look like for the top 25 teams

I generally agree with you, but I'd like to see the data on it as well. My guess is that NO team has a schedule without at least one opponent worse than 200.

come on man LOL. making statements like that is what makes people not take you and @DJ3 's opinions seriously. While we are bottom of the barrel A10 with Paulsen we are certainly a better program than Towson. it is not comparable.

Ooh, I would disagree with you here...wouldn't say they're a better program but they're very comparable and I like their young guys.

Generally speaking the power 5 schools can schedule sub 250 programs because they make up for it by their conference play being top 25-50 schools. No program is able to make a schedule without at least one sub 250 program. Maybe there’s an exception to the rule but I have to think it’s not that easy. Happy to be wrong.

As far as mason, we’ve debated scheduling. I’m not disagreeing that getting sub 250 schools off the schedule would be nice, but until mason proves otherwise it will be hard. Most likely there always will be 1 or 2, but it would be nice if that’s the maximum.
