Mason Athletics Plan for Limited Attendance
The George Mason men’s and women’s basketball teams will be able to have a limited number of fans, including students in EagleBank Arena for basketball games after consultation with University leadership. Mason Athletics’ plan for a return of Patriots basketball will follow the guidelines from the university and state health officials regarding the latest developments on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

As we have developed this plan, our guiding principle has been to support the health, safety, and well-being of the Mason community. Face coverings that meet CDC guidelines will be required at all times in EagleBank Arena. The limited number of fans allows Mason Athletics to allow for proper social distance markers throughout the arena, assign seating in pods, and delegate entrances to minimize traffic upon entry.

Ticketing for the basketball games will be strictly digital. The transition exclusively to mobile ticketing adds convenience for season ticket holders, while also allowing for contactless entry into EagleBank Arena.

Information on how to purchase tickets will be available later this week.

Super stoked on this and very interested how it will work. Are we going off priority points here? Lottery?

I would imagine it would mostly be based on priority points.

If I was running the show, it would go like this... If going by the same headcount as vcu with 1000. I’d say 400 seats go holders based on priority points for the full season. 200 go to students in the “Patriot Platoon whatever it’s called now” lottery based. The remaining seats go to all the other holders based on priority points but you only get to chose 5 home games max. That way lots of fans can at least experience some games. Some better than none.

Based on last years attendance number I’m going to go out on a limb here and still bet that folks will be able to go to just about any game they want. Rona is gonna keep some people home. We *should* be allowed to have more people at games than vcu because the Pat dome is about twice the size by capacity and square footage, but who knows.

Also for the people willing to make the drive down to Richmond, I think tickets should be easy to get for our pod games at vcu vs ODU and JMU.

What I’ve heard. Take fwiw

each game gets ticket requests. Priority points after family guests of the team etc.

I’d have to think it’ll be quite a different experience. It’ll probably be very safe but I know I won’t be able to make it this year. First time not attending a game at Mason at Eaglebank since...probably I was a freshman in 2003.

That makes total sense too. Wonder how much ticket prices will be? Individual ticket prices are almost pretty much not worth it. At least not to the average fan. I'm so used to paying season ticket prices we're all going to be sticker shocked.

Woooof I didn’t even think about that. Gonna be hard to justify paying 40+ dollars or whatever the face value of my usual seats are for some of these less than thrilling non con matchups. A10 play I can probably justify though depending on how we are looking.

I have to think that even with no season tickets they won't charge season ticket holders regular price for games. I don't really know but that would not be nice.

Although they do need all the revenue they can get. Perhaps they do more of a tier pricing model based on the match up.

No gold room or other hospitality is a given. Mason might be hard pressed to find 1k to attend each game. I have no doubt they will sell 1k tickets for each home game but I’d be hard pressed to think more than 750 show up. Hopefully they do a game by game or maybe mini plans that priority points holders can snag (800 tickets a game) while students and family get the other 200. Maybe that’s not the right break down. Would be a shame if they do 750 parents and students and 250 regular donors considering our students couldn’t give a shit.

I don’t think that they could get 750 students to show up. I doubt we even averaged 250 students for a lot of games last year.

Read it again... 25 percent capacity for arenas. Same as before really....
Where’d you see that? I can’t see anything that references arenas in the new restrictions. Unless it’s just a no change from the last level? Regardless, 25% of the pat dome is ~2500 seats.

A vcu fan brought it up on Twitter last night and someone that works for va state government clarified it was for private homes. 25% laws for sporting fan capacity
