I saw Douglas-Stanley play in the NYS championship game with Calixte. Of course, Calixte was the guy I focused on as he was the known target of GMU. I was a little concerned that Mt. Vernon barely looked to Calixte in the first half of the game I saw.

Fact is, Mt. Vernon didn't need to rely on him heavily for scoring in the game I saw - as the guards were taking care of that. Douglas-Stanley was one of them and they had another scoring guard who is now at Fairleigh Dickinson. The play of the guards loosened things up down low for Calixte in the 2nd half - and he got more touches. (and ultimately - I think he averaged 16 his senior year)

With the guards GMU is bringing in - I imagine Calixte's role at GMU will be much the same as it was at Mt. Vernon. Points will come to him as defense is forced to focus on good guard play - but he won't need to be an offensive focal point. Perhaps he'll develop into a rebounding and defensive force. (not to say he won't develop into a good offensive player, but that there won't be an inordinate amount of pressure to pick up the scoring load early in his college career)

Sorry to make the post about Calixte, I guess my point is that I like the addition of another scorer like Douglas-Stanley.

Now lets go after a PG! We will need someone to replace Otis, and those are very big shoes to fill. Perhaps we already have a replacement with Greene or Kier. I just like the idea of more options.

Not 100% sure, but couldn’t this potentially be a recruiting violation? Thought recruits couldn’t really do anything with a ball on their visits.

No recruiting violation.

It's my understanding that according to NCAA rules, any kind of workout that a recruit participates in on an official visit cannot be organized by the coach or coaching staff. Typically, the workout will be led by the team’s captains.

All you see in the video is JD-S taking a shot on the court -- it's not an issue...

100% wrong.
Thank you. I learned something new today.

This was the clause I was concerned about: “A prospect may participate in recreational activities during a visit to campus, provided the activities are not organized or observed by members of the athletics department, are not designed to test the athletics abilities of the prospect and any institutional facility used by the prospect is open to the general public.”

But according to http://www.ncsasports.org/ncaa-eligibility-center/recruiting-rules/official-visits:

“You may also be invited to participate in a workout or another team activity. According to NCAA rules, however, any kind of workout you attend on an official visit cannot be organized by the coach or coaching staff. Typically, the workout will be led by the team’s captains. Take this opportunity to see if you connect with your potential teammates.”

. . . basically as ephoops stated.

And make sure there is no sign of hookers or bags of blow and you are air tight safe.
