2015/16 Season Predictions

Livingtson was at the 1 and Moore at the 2 for a good majority of the scrimmage for the team being coached by Paulsen. I think there is a good chance that is the starting lineup, but maybe that is also impacted by Holloway returning (he said his injury was nothing significant and he'll be fine)

how did royal look?

Or in other words, he was pretty invisible, in contrast to every other veteran. I don't remember him making bad plays per se, but he just didn't appear to be a factor.
He had an up and under move under the basket which drew an and one that was pretty nice. Royals size surprised me, he will probably be backing up Shevon.

Great hustle from him. He had a lot of good looks, just couldn't finish a lot of his shots. I want to see this kid succeed more than anyone. I'm really hoping he can surprise all of us.

If he hustled then I'm already shocked.

I too would like to see Royal succeed. It must be tough for him to follow Hewitt to two schools and then end up having to play for two new coaches who didn't recruit him. It is all on him though at this point. He can make his final year into something to be proud of. All he has to do is buy into DP's system and work hard in practice to earn playing time. I hope he does.

Royal has always had impressive size and athleticism, he just doesn't seem to be able to maximize it. He missed a lot of shots, similar to what he did last year. I expect him to be behind Marko and Jenkins when it comes to PT.

George Mason (9-22, 4-14 and 12th in the Atlantic 10)

Mason posted its first single-digit victory season since Jim Larranaga’s first winter in Fairfax (1997-98). The Paul Hewitt era is over as Dave Paulsen was plucked from Bucknell. Paulsen has a proven track record after leading the Bison to four postseason berths in the last five years, and before that the Division III title at Williams. One figures it will take a winter or two to get his system and players in place, but stranger things have happened in the A-10.

Causes for Confidence

Six-foot-11 center Shevon Thompson averaged a double-double last season and six incoming freshmen will give Paulsen’s program his thumbprint from the start. Doc Nix and the Green Machine remain the best basketball pep band in the area.

Causes for Concern

Second-leading returning scorer Patrick Hollaway has to sit the first six games of the season due to academics. What if coach Paulsen can’t find a reliable point guard to direct his offense and the freshmen play like freshmen?

Season Opener

Nov. 13 against Colgate. Insert fluoride jokes here.

Game to Watch

Sunday, Jan. 31 against George Washington — early enough to still have hope, late enough for this team to have gelled somewhat.
