Lamar Butler photo of him pounding his chest to the fans after 2006 Tourney victory over UConn seen in the backdrop of the CBS studio while Charles, Kenny, etc. yammer during ND v Princeton halftime. I'll always remember that image!
Kornheiser mentioned Mason during PTI yesterday while debating whether Gonzaga winning the national title would be an upset or not.

Gonzaga was a true 1 seed and proved themselves more than worthy in this tournament (tied score with less than 2 min to go in the national title game)...was Korny saying they weren't legit as a non-P5 contender?
And they are certainly correct in that statement.Nope. The question was "If Gonzaga beats UNC is that an upset?" They both said slightly to no. He said "Gonzaga isn't vcu... Gonzaga isn't George Mason... Gonzaga isn't Butler pre-Runner up run." They were pretty much saying Gonzaga should no longer be viewed as a mid-major/Cinderella type team.
Just did the math, with UNC's latest Championship, that brings the total to 7 National Championships and 20 Final Fours combined among the coaches we beat to reach the Final Four. The coaches' combined totals of the teams vcu beat are 1 National Championship and 3 Final Fours. I believe that should be more than enough to squash whose run was more remarkable.
Technically, Carolina has 6 NCAA titles. The won the national championship in 1924 prior to the NCAAT, which would be 7. Duke only has 5. Just saying.

Nothing could be bigger than our run!https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...orts-night-in-forever/?utm_term=.61d4a9eabf08
For Washington sports, that would be bigger than the Terps 2002 national title, since our region is hardly unified behind Maryland. It would be bigger than George Mason, since our region mostly doesn’t care about George Mason. It would be more significant than the Redskins drafting Robert Griffin III, or the return of Joe Gibbs, since neither of those proved to be transformative, if you put aside RGIII transforming into a breathing hashtag. Ditto for Michael Jordan’s decision to play for the Wizards, an event not one person (who doesn’t work at the Ritz) celebrates now. It would be more significant than the Redskins beating the Cowboys to end the 2012 season, or the Redskins winning in Tampa to get into the NFL quarterfinals.
