UMass' Olbrys, La Salle's Quinn Earn Under Armour #A10WBB Weekly Awards
The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Massachusetts junior Megan Olbrys as its Under Armour Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. La Salle freshman Joan Quinn was named the Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday and are for games played on January 13-19.

"SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Davidson College Wildcats have won five games in Atlantic 10 conference play so far and have only dropped one game against the top-seeded Richmond Spiders. Sitting at 10-8 overall, the Wildcats are 3-5 on the road coming into Fairfax. In the last 10 matchups against Davidson, the Patriots are 5-5 in the series.
Four players are currently averaging double figures in scoring, led by 2023-24 Second Team All-Conference selection Charlise Dunn, who averages 11.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in steals with 15. Sophomore guard Katie Donovan is second in scoring, averaging 10.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Senior guard Issy Morgan averages 10.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while leading the team from the free throw line (40-48, 83.3%). Candice Lienafa averages 10.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game and is second on the team in blocks with 11.
Another notable player is Millie Prior, who leads the team in rebounds per game (6.4) and total blocks (19) while averaging 5.7 points per game. Freshman guard Kyra Bruyndoncx averages 7.3 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
As a team, Davidson ranks third in field goal percentage (43.6%) and bench points per game (22.7). The Wildcats are first in the Atlantic 10 conference and ranked 17th in the nation in three-point percentage defense (25.2). They also rank third in the conference for three-pointers per game (7.7)."

Saw the last 4 minutes so I missed the comeback portion of the game. It was tied when I started watching and Mason pulled away, scoring on nearly every trip. As was said on the broadcast, the final margin was deceptive as Davidson had to foul in the last minute and Mason went 6-6 from the line.

What a fun 4th quarter that was! Harris and Walton in particular balled out.
As a complete aside, I noticed that Davidson had more international players (8) than domestic (7) listed on their roster. They had 5 Australians, 1 Hungarian, 1 Belgian and 1 Canadian.

"FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, January 25 at 3 p.m. at EagleBank Arena where the Patriots will welcome Revolutionary Rival, George Washington. The game will also serve as the team's National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration and Alumni Day.
George Mason is 18-30 historically with George Washington. George Mason is 5-2 over George Washington in their last seven matchups, since head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis and her staff took over in the 2021-22 season.
Earlier this season, the Patriots dominated the Revs, winning 87-55 in the opening day of conference play. Graduate student Ta'Viyanna Habib scored 20 points on 61.5% shooting, including four three-pointers. The 32-point loss was GW's worst A-10 loss since 2011."

That second half was so much fun to watch. The press completely rattled GW. It was like they never even contemplated that was a possibility much less practiced how to handle it. I almost started feeling bad for their players in the 4th quarter. Almost.

Women's Bracketology: Iowa upset USC -- so why are the Trojans still a 1-seed?
