GIVING DAY 2023
Respectfully, Nobody has agreed with you because you haven't presented any reason for us to agree with you. We all thought that he would burst out of the gate with the extra practice time. He didn't, because he couldn't figure out how to defend.

Midway through his frosh year at Mason he started putting it all together and he showed glimpses (I think he went off at GW) of what his talent was and really figuring it out. There were other examples as well but that one comes to mind. Then he got hurt and now it looks like hes just back to being a rotational player. Perhaps he lost his explosiveness from his knee injury that is needed to be legit in the Big East.

Seemingly from his stats it looks like he either is going to end up being a role player in the Big East or he will look to drop down a level so that he can be more of the "focal point" of a team.

Was he over hyped? Yeah maybe. Is he above where he should be? Quite possibly. But an athletic kid like Justyn Fernandez definitely has talent, its just a matter of if hes a little over where he should be in my opinion. We've both been watching Mason basketball long enough when you see a kid that is special, and Justyn fit that bill. He might actually end up being a high level player at a mid major level versus doing what hes doing in the Big East.
I hear you, and maybe I'm wrong. My reasoning is simply the old school eye test. I just haven't seen it.
We all have opinions, and that's mine, based on what I've seen.
But, hey, it doesn't really matter does it? He's not here anymore.

"FAIRFAX, Va (WDVM) — In January, George Mason men’s basketball welcomed one of their top recruits, Justyn Fernandez, to Fairfax.

Fernandez is a 4-star recruit out of IMG Academy in Florida, and was ranked #74 on the ESPN 100 for the Class of 2022.

'His athleticism is different,' said George Mason head coach Kim English. 'He’s one of the best athletes I’ve ever been around, NBA or college.

For the Patriots, he’s the highest rated high school player to come to George Mason in over a decade. Even though Justyn will not play this season, just having him with the team learning the system early, is already a big advantage."

"According to a fan in attendance, Kim English got into it with a heckler on Wednesday night. The exchange went something like this:

Fan in crowd: 'Maybe next year you’ll learn how to coach!'
English: 'Come down and say it to my face.'

I was not at the game so I can neither confirm nor deny what supposedly went down during the second half of a three-point loss to DePaul. I can only go off of first-hand accounts and there seem to be more than one witness.

A reporter in attendance either saw the exchange with his own eyes or caught wind of the exchange through social media. He asked English a question during the post game press conference about what happened. English said 'nothing' — and nothing more. An awkward silence ensued.

I find it hard to believe that Kim English was telling the truth based on his body language and brevity. It feels like he was trying to move on as quickly as possible, which only creates even more suspicion and confusion about a situation that reflects poorly on a Division-I college basketball coach in the middle of a guaranteed losing season. To claim that 'nothing' happened all-but confirms that something happened."

I imagine he’s got a bad behavior clause in his contract…so maybe he wants to kill the story quickly and not give the ouija board consulting AD any ideas.
