Welcome Otis Livingston

Cool Disco Dan

Sixth Man
Glowing words from his HS Coach (via mycentraljersey.com) -- Linden is a probably the best public school program in NJ: “I think Otis and I came together at the right time in each other’s’ lives,” Colicchio said. “I think Otis was seeking something and he’s almost like a throwback kid – he loves the game, he loves to practice, he loves to work and I think he was just the perfect final piece to our team last year and this year.” “I’ve been coaching 28 years, I don’t know if I’ve ever clicked that much with a kid in such a short period of time,” Colicchio said. “...I’m going to miss the kid on the court just as much as I’m going to miss him off the court. Our conversations, he brightens up a room when he walks in. He’s such a positive kid around our building. The family is just so supportive of him and all our kids. It’s just been a win-win situation for both of us.”

Been reading up on him a bit and this seems to be consistently what everyone says about him. He seems to be a Paulsen guy through and through.

On paper he sounds real nice. It sounds like somebody who has all the intangibles. While we would love to get a top 50 recruit, we all know that doesn't guarantee anything. Somebody who works that hard and has a great attitude will become a fan favorite at "The Vault" real fast.

From the video, one thing that I notice, look how fast he gets back on defense. Even when he falls to the ground. Don't even care he's a 2 star, I like the heart in this kid.
Great notice, and you're exactly right. That's good coaching/habits, right there.

Looks like all the guys Paulsen has brought on board are hard working and easily coachible. What we may lack in 4 star pizazz, we make up for in talented team players!

Hewitt also recruited mostly hard working players who might have been coachable given the right coach. That is one reason I am sad to see the players leave. I think they would have been good players under Paulsen.

If we're going to build a winning culture, we need a couple of guys in that first class with all the intangibles and work ethic and positive mentality.

For all his faults, not finding talented players wasn't an issue. Coaching them up and developing that talent, or making it fit in a scheme....well that's a different story.

Again, coaching. Or maybe not. We will never know with the three leaving. Let's see how the guys who are staying play defense this year.
