Per Jeff Goodman...

George Mason has landed Northeastern transfer Masai Troutman, he told @TheFieldOf68. The 6-4 junior guard averaged 13.5 points per game this past season and shot 40 percent from 3.

"Troutman was a game-changer for the Huskies when healthy, but missed most of 2024-25 after being named to a preseason all-conference team" - @NUBallCentral

Has played 3 seasons at Northeastern, with only 13 games played last season.

So what's the deal with the injuries? Only played 13 games this past year, started in 5. .Missed all of the last 13 games. Started almost all games the previous year.

I'm presuming he has recovered but is he game-ready now or is he still recovering?

Nice catch!

Anyway - solid solid pickup. We need a shooter and a scorer and he fits the bill. Another example of a local kid looking to come home with a year of eligibility.

I thought we were getting a northwestern player, but he looks like he’s a solid pickup. Fingers crossed he’s healthy for Mason.

Do you think he solves the glaring need at point guard that O’Connor couldn’t grow into?
Mincy is the point guard we’ve been looking for. BOC will see minutes on the ball as well — curious whether the staff tries to land another PG for depth, won’t be easy b/c kids are no longer willing to wait.

To be successful, Mason needs several ball-handlers on the floor who can also run the offense while others play off the ball...that way, the opponent can't key on one pg.

This is exactly what Odom did with vcu this year. He ran a rotation of (Shulga, Russell/Shulga, Jackson/Jackson,Russell/Shulga,Jackson,Russell)...with Jenning thrown in there as well..

Skinn seems to be headed in the same direction with the 25-26 roster construction.

Only a matter time before Dads, Uncles, and Cousins are coaching the 8 or 9 kids on a mid major roster. Yep sounds like aau.

Apparently Trautman was heavily recruited before going to Northeastern.

"I first got on the phone with an assistant (Coach Hunter) and he talked about how they love my style of play and how they see me similar to Vic Oladipo," Troutman said . "Then I got on the phone with Coach (Archie) Miller and he officially offered me. This was my first time talking with them."

While Miller was fired before the 2022 season, how does one getting offers from Big Ten schools wind up playing in the CAA?

Also from Trautman's Northeastern bio,
"Personal: Rated the third best recruit in Maryland in 2022 according to MaxPreps … Also had offers from Florida, Georgetown, and Indiana among others."
