He played very limited minutes. Not much of a shooter. Defense and depth are my hopes for him. Athletic. Put him on Bones when we play vcu.

Right? What world are we living in? I mean I think hes an upgrade to what Mason had and thats all that matters. The fact he plays really good defense has me very excited. He has the length to do that.

Gaines is legit. Even if he never develops offensively, he will guard the other teams best player night in night out and give teams all sorts of headaches. This is a great grab.

He can guard 1-4 in the A-10. He will lock down his man. Never really got going offensively at Tennessee, but also didn't get a ton of minutes to develop within the offense. He's a fantastic teammate, plays extremely hard, and doesn't take anything for granted.

And thus....what can he do when he gets opportunity at Mason vs sitting behind other players at a P5?

Plus....KE knows this kid. He saw him firsthand. Its not like we're gambling on HS stats and competition. KE knows he's bringing something he wants or needs for Mason.

We're actually getting not just transfers from P5 conferences, but QUALITY transfers. I've been going to games since 1975, and I've NEVER seen anything like this! My enthusiasm is off the charts.

Guys, I HATE to be that guy, but we're talking about a guy who averaged 0.7 and 0.7 on 22% from the floor in 3 minutes a game as a sophomore.

Like, yes, MAYBE he'lll be a lockdown defender in the A10 and MAYBE he'll be able to score effectively, and I sure as hell hope so, but I don't think it's fair to English, or to Gaines, or to us to saddle the kid with those kind of expectations.

I welcome the kid with open arms, and sure hope he produces, but just like I said in the Schwartz thread, the best indicator of future performance is past performance, be that in Tennessee or Timbuktu.

I've watched pretty much every minute that Ticket played here the last 2 years. He was a lockdown defender at Tennessee. There are no maybes about his ability to defend. Offense is the only question mark, and it's not a small question mark.

Wish I could thumbs up this multiple times. No, we haven't signed MJ, Bird, Magic, or even Zion, but these guys are huge gets for us. And done in 10 days. 10 days. And I think it IS okay to put expectations on them. I can guarantee you KE is. After all, his professional future is riding on these guys.
Will it work out? Only time will tell, but I'm willing to give coach the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he's doing...until he gives me reason to doubt.
