Being optimistic here but, this year's short roster could be a blessing in disguise (very good disguise). In no other situation would our freshmen have gotten the minutes they are getting now.
So next year, we will have 4 Sophomores (AJ, Mar, Calixte, Greene) who played legitimate minutes in their freshman year expediting their development physically and mentally.
Mar especially seems like he may have a special career here at Mason. Very smart player who will figure things out quickly. He wasn't recruited by all those P5 schools for his athletic ability, it was his understanding of the game.
AJ will have a better feel on how to use his athleticism in the right context.
Calixte is showing more signs of life every game and I actually thought we could have used him more last night. He was pretty effective in his limited minutes against the 6-10 Knight for W&M.
Greene is the one who could show the most improvement, he's an explosive scorer. Just needs more confident on his drives to the basket.
We'll have two seniors (Otis, Grayer) who are proven studs.
Boyd is struggling a bit this year but still producing and I'm confident he'll work things out even this year
The unknown:
Reuter - Looks like a smart, very skilled player, but who knows?
That leave us with Kier. I am not sure what happened to him from the first 2 or 3 games of this year until now. He seems lost, timid, and just overall bad. He's playing like a true freshman. He's providing almost nothing of value on the court lately. To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of his last year, but everyone here kept on praising him. I was ecstatic to be wrong about him after the beginning of the season.
I hope there is no drama off the court that is keeping him from focusing or annoying injury. I don't see him limping at all or grimacing in pain. If he wakes up, it would provide a huge relief to this team.
