Statement Regarding OT Board

Masonhoops has removed the Off Topic board due to the constant level of complaints and misinformation being posted by certain users. Ultimately, this is a college basketball board, not a place to vent about politics. For many years we supported free speech and there were many thoughtful discussions on the OT board, but recently user behavior has become inflamed and toxic. If you were one of those involved in these discussions, I urge you to take a look at your behavior and readjust your thinking away from biases on either end of the spectrum.

Furthermore, Masonhoops stands against racism and discrimination of all kinds. This will never be a place for that kind of speech. I invite everyone to unite in celebration and discussion of the George Mason Patriots and the Atlantic 10.

Having created the Politics thread, I agree that it has devolved into something that can no longer have a place here. There are plenty of other forums out there to express ones political views. Its been quite a ride but time to hop off this runaway train.i am going to miss more my In Memoriam thread

The near decade long death spiral for this program leaves us with nothing but misguided talk of "maybe next year!" or why we don't have football at Mason to discuss.

Losing the off topics is like ignoring Pornhub and only looking at the same 30 year old Penthouse Magazine everyday.

However, I do understand how it could be time to "put a bullet behind the ear" of the off topics.

Fully support this. As we know, recruits and potential recruits do come on these boards occasionally, I'd rather they decide not to come here because they saw we said they sucked and couldn't play for the blind and deaf sisters of the Chesapeake Bay, rather than them venture to the politics board and decide for non-basketball related reasons.
