Revolutionary Rivalry

Not sure we can call it a Rivalry after we got waxed last year, but I wanted to know if anyone else even pays attention to this or if it is advertised at all on campus.

I checked the link on gomason.com and it still has last years results, even though we've had the schedules for the fall and winter sports for a while now. I figured they'd be in a hurry to get last years result buried.

Since the initial announcement of the "rivalry", I don't think I've seen a single mention of it otherwise, other then by me seeking out the standings on gomason.com, which usually are not updated.

If we are going to do it, isn't it at least worth putting some effort into it? Have the site updated with schedules/results, list the preseason rankings of each of the teams to track who is supposed to win which event, when there are upsets, etc. I just spent some time going through the A10 website to see how our cross country, golf, swim and volleyball teams are ranked compared to each other - thought if I was interested enough to do that, maybe others would be interested enough if that information was more easily provided, or maybe I'm just the only weirdo.

Always felt like a forced rivalry to me. No real animosity. Sure maybe a few fans have had problems with each other but on the whole I think it's pretty civil. I may not love GW, but I f**king hate vcu.

It isn't really promoted on campus. Only thing I've seen is the bookstore sells large buttons that say "Beat GW". Because there's nothing students like more than 1950's style buttons...

Idk, I think it's getting there, especially in the band. It's pretty hard not to hate them if they talk shit on Otis, which their fans did last year. On the way back up from Richmond, after the women got blown out by GW in the A-10 tournament, we were so pissed off about the bad refs and their band being disrespectful that we spent a good hour talking crap about horrible GW is.
It's pretty easy to make fun of them tbh. There should be more ammo this year with Lonergan being kicked out and the like

Yeah I mean if we were duking it out for position in the standings it would probably be more heated. Unfortunately we may be closer this in the standings this year but that's gonna be down to them meeting us towards the bottom, not us rising up.

Students should get creative with chants vs all our opponents. But specifically for GW, there is a lot to go on b/c of recent drama with Lonergan. Cameron crazies heckled an nc state player's grandma. She had just passed away a few days before the game. ouch! But that's what makes it Cameron Indoor nearly impossible to win in.

You want students involved, then let them have fun. I don't know all the rules and implications, but what if students could "tailgate" inside. I went to an alumni event last year in a taped off section where drinks were served. Let me tell you that was a FUN experience.

I think it was my sophomore year when myself and a few others tried to start the "Battle of the Orange Line" trend. One of the students created Beat G-Dub t-shirts and there was a huge turnout for the game. We were also winning a lot, so that definitely played into the support behind the movement.

I remember this. There was a lot of excitement, but then we didn't play GW again, so it died.

Nothing. Just pointing out somebody mentioned that it was almost impossible to win because fans are chanting at players. I did not disagree with that, simply stated that Duke has good basketball players which helps them win, as well. This isn't a difficult concept to grasp. BTW, there is only one school with fans I dislike more than Duke, and they wear black and yellow.

Can we update the rules so we count only sports we compete against each other in? I always thought that was weird.
