I saw this video on my phone. I wonder who started it, vcu fan or St. Louis fan?
It's tough to tell who started it based on the videos I saw. As much as I want to blame vcu fans, it looks like the bald St. Louis fan on the right of the aisle is the one doing the most jawing and instigating.

Edit: I should have gone with my first hunch. Someone just posted that vcu fans started it. Shame on me for giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I've looked at the video many of times from several different angles.

The bald SLU fan didn't really take part in the fiasco until the end. And then he was more pissed that they chose to escort him out of the arena and then started losing his sh*it even more. There was an older SLU man who was pretty bloodied on the aisle seat.

It looks to me, that the instigator was a vcu fan wearing a gray pullover. I think I've seen him before. He might've been that voodoo warrior dude who showed up on a broadcast once.

Apparently it was Phil Russell’s family that started the ruckus. For context hes from St Louis, on his 4th school in 5 years and lead the NCAA in techs with 10 in 2023.

Classy vcu fans as expected.

I've sat in those seats for a game probably 7 or 8 times over the years. I would consider SLU to be the most tame place I've ever watched Mason play on the road. I've never had any negative experienced with SLU fans. I would put a large sum of money that this was started by vcu fans.

Surprisingly, Northern Iowa might have been the worst experience.

What could have started the fight at the end of the game. At that point acceptance sets in and your emotions cool down.

It didn't involve regular fans, a vcu player's parents and family members..preliminary indication it may have involved Phillip Russell's parents..as he is from St. Louis and played for the Bilikens out of HS.

Zeb Jackson's mom is in the clip as well, but didn't do anything.

Guaranteed Rams fans started it. They can't take banter and healthy crap talking, like for 25 years, just engrained in them down in Richmond. If we win at vcu this year I guarantee some Ram fan will try to fight a Patriot fan at some point. It's what they live off of down there.

No wonder every A-10 school hates vcu the most lol

SLU fans were chanting "Russia...Russia" at Max Shulga..who is a Ukranian refugee and whose family is still in Ukraine.

I seriously doubt that's why Russell's dad/family members attacked a 70 year old St. Louis fan in the stands

"It all started with Phillip Russels mom chirping the SLU fans and one just told her to sit down and then she went up 3 rows and threw the first punch. 4 vcu guys jumped over me (most likely Russels family) started throwing haymakers and it was nuts from there"

I'm just saying there was other Tom foolery and hijinx going apart from the brawl.
No, there wasn't. Go read the St. Louis board....bunch of their fans at the game stated none of the Russia stuff was said. Some anonymous fan on X started that to stir the pot. Wouldn't start spreading this as actually happening as this is fake news.

From a St. Louis fan actually at the game and sitting in the middle of it: "I was on the aisle in 115 with a front row seat to the mayhem. A few SLU regulars were yelling at the refs and Russell the entire game about his flopping for fouls. Eventually Russell's Mom had enough of the banter and headed up a few rows, down an aisle and in the face of a SLU fan. Within about 10 seconds the Russell family / posse swarmed with dogpiles ensuing and punches flying."
