Watch Major League. It's the best sports movie of all time. None of the taking itself way too seriously like Rudy or Field of Dreams or that stuff. Just good ol' fashion pre-AIDS Charlie Sheen.
best sports movie of all time is a stretch.... but damn good movie for sure

I don't really care for the "based on a true story" type sports movies. They almost always over-dramatize or take way too much liberty.

"Women might think that Ryan Gosling is super hot, but they forget he was an absolute f**king liability at cornerback in Remember the Titans"

Remember The Titans was a joke as far as reality is concerned. I was in high school during those years, and one of the "all white" teams mentioned was James Madison HS, my school in Vienna. We had had an integrated team for years...and so did everybody else. It torks me that just because one/two schools had a problem integrating, they made it look like they were so wonderful overcoming it when noone else did. Heck, everybody else ALREADY HAD integrated teams. The movie made it look like they were the only ones who did. LIES!!!!

I think you have to separate too comedy from drama. Slapshot (or Bull Durham) is a damn fine sports' comedy but how can you compare it to a great sports' drama like Raging Bull?

Raging Bull kinda goes in it's own category for me. More of a human story with boxing as the vehicle. Scorsese famously doesn't have any interest in sports, he did that one cause of the human element behind it.

Miracle is good but a little sanitized by the house of mouse. Rocky is obviously good. Hoosiers, RTT, and Rudy don't really do anything for me.

Rookie of the Year, however...

"Virginia school systems actually integrated in 1963. Mary Blanton, now an attorney in Salisbury, North Carolina, attended T.C. Williams during those turbulent years. She disagrees with how the film depicts the racial struggles and wrote about her experience in the Salisbury Post. According to Blanton,

While the newly released Disney movie, 'Remember the Titans,' makes good viewing, it bears little resemblance to the true story of 1971 or those earlier first years at my high school. In presenting its salutary message of racial understanding and human compassion, the movie plays fast and loose with history. The movie depicts Alexandria as a Hollywood-stereotypical Southern town, circa 1950s. But by the late „60s and early „70s, Alexandria was a cosmopolitan bedroom community for the rapidly expanding federal establishment, both military and civilian, in and around Washington D.C."

"However, the threads of truth interwoven throughout the story provide the backbone for an emotional, fulfilling story. Those exaggerated elements are what makes the film so appealing to the audience. Film producer, Jerry Bruckheimer says it best: 'This isn‟t a slick Hollywood project, — we put out something very real and that‟s what we wanted to do.'”
