Does any of the brain trust out there that knows a lot about the college recruiting process know whether or not recruiting services are worth the money?

I'm looking at it from the player perspective. If you are a good, better than average player, with good grades, but not quite as flashy, are they a good idea to help you get recruited by colleges? Not just D1 in the SEC or ACC, but 1A, D2, and D3? or, do college coaches really use those sites to preliminary scout players? I'm asking specifically about NCSASports.org, BeRecruited.com, GoBigRecruiting.com, etc.

Thanks,

Old Man

Based on my experience, those services have much more impact in the Olympic sports than football or basketball.

My son created a profile on BeRecruited and got some decent D-I looks for baseball before he blew out the ligament in his pitching elbow.

Football recruiting is increasingly being done at combines, elite camps and satellite camps.

AAU is still the way to go for basketball; even if you don't play for one of the sneaker company organizations and you only get in lower-tier events, if you can play, coaches will see you.
