GIVING DAY 2023
Figured that with transfer season heating up and other teams going after recruiting, we could have a thread to talk about it.

According to verbal commits here is some recent activity. Fordham losing two of their guards, vcu losing a point guard, and a few offers that St Joes, URI and Duquense have put out.

3/16/2018 - Fordham JUCO SG Tre Evans (6-2, 185, 2.5★) | Position Rank: 37 will be transferring. -
3/15/2018 - vcu 2017 PG Tyler Maye (6-1, 165, 3★) will be transferring.
3/13/2018 - Fordham JUCO PG Perris Hicks (6-1, 180, 2★) will be transferring.
3/17/2018 - 2020 PF Elijah Taylor (6-9, -, 2★) has received an offer from Saint Joseph's.
3/15/2018 - 2020 SF Dyondre Dominguez (6-7, -, 2★) has received an offer from Rhode Island. -
3/14/2018 - 2020 PG Zeb Jackson (5-9, -, 2★) has received an offer from Duquesne.

Also, it'll be interesting to see what happens with any of the guys from URI, should Hurley move to another school.

Can’t remember who but Dayton has lost a few guys. Still early but Grant’s looking Hewitt-esque.

Xerious Williams is the only transfer. The other dude got kicked out of school for fighting police while drunk.

Ty graves transferred from St. Louis

Hope Mason can keep the team together..seems like it’s almost commonplace nowadays for every team to lose players.

Wasn’t that like half a year ago? I thought I saw someone other than Williams announced as leaving like two days ago.

Matej Svoboda announced he's leaving Dayton today. He was a lightly recruited freshman from the Czech Republic that averaged 11 minutes and under 2 points per game. Word is he's got a professional opportunity back home and won't be transferring to any school. The Dayton guys think Baby Freak might leave Dayton too, so that might suddenly start to look a little bit like a rebuild.

I've got my fingers crossed that other A10 teams get dicked by transfers but Mason retains everyone and is left standing amidst the rubble.

Obviously these things are tough to see coming but who could you see bailing? I would’ve said half of Richmond if they didn’t save their season at the end. Now I wouldn’t bank on anyone unless some of URI’s recruits want out.

Rhody has a top 30 recruiting class on some sites. Those dudes have options and they could follow Hurley or go to one of many other schools that would take them. Now, Adam Zagoria is already reporting that URI assistant David Cox would be a top choice to take Hurley's spot if he leaves, and his bio on URI's site credits him as being the primary recruiter for their top three recruits this year. Maybe Hurley leaves and those guys stay, but I doubt he'd be able to keep all three of them.

In addition to Dayton being somewhat reshaped, I also wouldn't be surprised to see more guys leave vcu and Richmond. *I am basing that off absolutely nothing* and just saying that I wouldn't be shocked. Saint Louis could be a candidate too, given everything that transpired there this season. Transfers are only beginning to be announced and more names will come for the A10 in the next few weeks. Again, this is mostly a fan fiction pipe dream, but I feel pretty good about Mason's nine returning guys. A weak A10 could provide a nice opening for us to make a run.

I agree vcu could see more change. Sort of sad that PG left as he apparently made their their last PG Williams look like a shooter. Oh well. Not sure I agree with Richmond. That team clicked the second half of the year and looks like they could be really good for the next few years. Aside from maybe Davidson I'm not sure there's another conference team I fear as much the next 2 years.

Svoboda may have averaged 2 points, but had the makeup of the random bench guy who has a career day against us. :)

from their boards he was the worst scholarship player. is this true? they are happy to get a free scholly back. is this the same feeling as when Danny Dixon transferred or are they actually losing something?

Joseph Chartouney-Fordham graduates in 3 years and will now transfer with his 1 year of eligibility remaining. He can play right away

There is much uncertainty over Mooney’s future at Richmond. Many want him fired after making the dance just twice in 13 seasons. He has 3 years left on his deal and it’s not likely their admin would eat $3.5M to make him go away, but you never know. Another poor season next year and he’s probably gone.

Buckingham could be on the move to somewhere he could play his natural spot at the 2/3 instead of spending his entire career as a vastly undersized 4.

Also Grant Golden will have opportunities to transfer and play alongside his younger brother at much better programs than Richmond if he so desires. Bryce Golden should have plenty of P5 interest now that he has decommitted from Pitt.

$3 million a year in Pittsburgh is roughly $400 million a year here. He'll be able to buy his way out of public bathroom sexual assaults like Big Ben with that kind of scratch.

Correct, Svoboda wasn't an impact guy. But Dayton has some talent returning and if they lose Kostas, Crosby, and maybe someone else on top of Miller, Xeyrius, and Svoboda, suddenly they've got a bunch of question marks and have to rely on a lot of year one contributors, which dampens their outlook.

Mooney gets next year at least. No way they fire him now with that much money left on his deal when they bring back everyone important. They should be good if everyone returns, but if Buckingham or Golden want out it's probably right back to suck.

I really don't know what to make of the A10 next year. Davidson skips a beat after losing their frontcourt and URI skips a beat if Hurley leaves. The two teams with the most talent on the floor will probably be St. Louis and vcu, but I'm not at all sold on either head coach. Duquesne, Mason, Richmond, and UMass seem like the safest bets to kick it up a notch, but I'm not sure you can trust any of those programs to blow through the conference. Gonna be a weird year and I can see the seas parting/hope like hell that Mason is near the top.

I don't think they will fire Mooney. They were clicking at the end of this year and have some solid pieces to build on. If everyone stays Mooney has no excuse..... should be Top 4 team in the A10 next year.

Mooney is a really hard case from what I've looked at. Nothing hes done is that great (other than when he had the sweet 16 run), but he hasn't been that terrible either. He just always seems to have middle of the pack teams.

I'm not sure how much of a leash he will get under the new AD who started in January. He probably gets another year just so he can get evaluated more, even though I thought he would have been gone.

any idea about this guy? they went like 8 deep because of injuries and he still didn't play..
Was a one star recruit. Quote from Martelli. “Gerald has the opportunity to be impactful because of his work ethic and the fact that he does all of the little things that lead to team success,” Martelli said. “He has a desire to chase greatness. A very serious student, I expect him to have a positive impact on campus as well as on our program.”
