You may have already seen or gotten emails about the various goals the university and specifically the basketball programs have regarding fundraising. I encourage everyone to donate, even a few bucks to Mason athletics specifically. Its up to you on if you want to do a sport, or more than 1 etc. Basketball greatness is encouraged specifically for basketball as it can be used for various areas as needed.

I think anything specific that involves the GMU Foundation (which includes greatness, friends of basketball) is all tax deductible. But I would encourage you to email the Pat club or consult your accountant for specific advice.

My sense is that it would be tax deductible, but if you're making your "seat donation" to the Patriot Club (to keep your current season ticket seats) that WOULDN'T be tax deductible as you are receiving a benefit.

I emailed the Patriot Club asking about the seat donation fee and they indicated that it wouldn't be tax deductible.

I gave a couple of weeks ago to the emphasis they had going then. (Whatever it was called.) I specified MBB. Hope that helps with this.
Frankly, I'm confused. I'm not sure what's what. Seems like they could simplify all the different giving calls they have put out over the last few months...including mailings I have gotten.

It looks like they now have the Basketball Greatness initiative listed alongside the Friend's of Men's Basketball. I don't think it was posted that way this morning. I was confused if my donation to the Basketball Greatness was being factored in or not.

Is that low number due to lofty/inflated expectations, or was this a huge bust (comparable to other years)?

Vision Day is *technically* running from noon yesterday to noon today, so there are still a few hours left. I don't know the answer about their actual goals, but there is still time today to give.

That would potentially explain reduced dollar amounts. I would hope that people might still give, but, maybe less. Does it explain that the total donors seems to be lower than expected?

Could it be that folks like me gave last month to the call they sent out?
Seriously, I wish "they" could be more organized in their drives. It makes it difficult to know what's what.

Between Basketball Greatness and Friends of Men’s Basketball, it’s currently at 130 donors and ~$120,000.

Not sure what they were hoping for, but that doesn’t strike me as terrible performance considering the size of our fan base.
