Making moderately contested layups...

...is not this team's strong point. According to my calculations, Mason left 2,344 points in the ether last night against GW, after flubbing eleventeen thousand slightly contested layups.

In the spirit of offering a solution to address my criticism, I suggest placing a 6'10" scarecrow in the paint, arms outstretched, and running the team through fast-paced layup drills for 26 hours a day for a week, or until shooting accuracy hits 80%.

Another option is to have the players use the lay up line during warm ups as lay up drill instead of a dunking exhibition.

Otis has been so solid for us all year, but I have to admit his showboating at the end of a blowout loss last night seemed really out of character. The broadcaster pointed it out the first time Otis unnecessarily dribbled between his legs with a minute or so remaining, and then he tried to dribble around his back, which led to a turnover and uncontested layup.

Otis is arguably the most unselfish player on this roster — and he's never been about drawing attention to himself or trying to upstage an opponent — so I'm going to chalk it up to the frustration of another tough loss in a very, very long season.
