GMU vs Va Tech 11/6/16 Scrimmage Box Score

Received this copy of the GMU vs Va Tech 11/6/16 scrimmage box score (2nd half only) at Eagle Bank Arena. Not sure if they played two halves or just one. Looks like the sophomores and MM played well based on the box score.

What's up with Relvao? Did I miss something on him? I thought he was recovered from his knee problem.

I've seen him a couple of times walking across campus recently and saw him actively engaged in a practice at the RAC about 2 weeks ago.

Nothing is up with him, he's not very good and won't play a lot this season. These scrimmages are to prepare in game-like situations before the season starts.

I guess we swung and missed on him. I thought given he had first talked about going to Valparaiso that he was pretty good. Evidently not. Too bad because we could have used him as front court depth if he were good enough to gain minutes.

Hopefully Paulsen can coach him up. Hate to write him off so quickly - we're already small with hin.

During the RAC open practice and scrimmage I watched him run with no noticeable limp or pain. He played in all of the scrimmages and ran suicide drills afterwards. I wouldn't go as far as saying he's a swing and a miss before the season even starts. Paulsen most likely knows there's a lack of depth at the five and chooses to avoid any potential risk.

He's basically still just a regular freshman even after redshirting because he was hurt and recovering from surgery most of last season.

We already knew he was raw because he hasn't been playing basketball for very long.

And bigs almost always take longer to develop. The ones who don't go to Kentucky and then the NBA.

Way too early to say we swung and missed on him.

Give the kid a chance.

I have watched Paulsen teams for the past 20 years. He is very good at developing big men.

It may take some time, but if Relvao is willing to put in the time and effort, Paulsen will do all he can to help him realize his potential.

Seriously, that might be the most pre-mature swing and miss/bust call I have ever seen. Has literally yet to set foot even on a sideline in his first official game as an eligible/healthy player. Maybe he had a test, maybe he played in the first half against VT, maybe he was sick...

We knew he was raw coming out of high school, very good chance Paulsen intended for him to be 2+ years away from potentially contributing.

I was simply replying to the guy who said Relvao is no good. How about a foul tip followed by a lengthy rain delay?

The guy who said Relvao is no good is also a known troll/complainer and claimed he heard Otis was hurt when he wasn't. Obviously, I think we'll all find out when he actually plays a game.

You know, lets appreciate this year's team, and especially Marquise Moore. I think he's going to be one of those guys, sort of like Ike Tate that we're all going to appreciate more after he's gone. I think this is going to be a really fun team to root for this year. No, it's not going to win the A-10, and yes, it might take a few buttwhippings, but I like the kids on the team, and sophomore Otis + Senior Moore might be one of the headier backcourts we've ever had.
