This is going to be a good gauge for us. I and most A10 pundits had us and Bona being very close in skill and talent this year. I think we win this one which will be crucial come A10 tourney time. 68-61 Mason

Osun Osunniyi is my dream big for a Paulsen defense. He is getting better offensively as well which is great from last year. Hope AJ doesn't have to cover him all game but he will. We need to make sure AJ stays out of foul trouble or this may turn into a KSU or vcu abuse with their bigs.

"WASHINGTON, D.C. – Four Bonnies scored in double figures, led by a 20-point performance from Osun Osunniyi as St. Bonaventure held off George Washington, 71-66, in the Atlantic 10 opener Sunday afternoon outside the nation's capital.

Osunniyi tallied his best statistical performance in a Bonnies uniform, going 8-for-8 from the floor while adding nine rebounds and five blocks.

St. Bonaventure (9-5, 1-0) received contributions from Kyle Lofton (17 points, eight assists, five rebounds), Bobby Planutis (13 points) and Matt Johnson (12) as well to take control late in a back-and-forth contest."

Agreed. I think Bonaventure is a middle of the pack team that Mason should be able to win against, especially at home. I am hoping they learn what didn’t work against Silva and definitely look to defend Osunniyi better. They are going to need to double and then cover the pass lane quickly.

The Patriots stink at home, so no advantage there.

Did the A10 schedule this two game stretch for the Bonnies on purpose so that they'd play in DC on Sunday and Fairfax on Wed, not having to go back to Olean? And does the A10 do this often?

To elaborate, the 2 teams are close in both offensive and defensive efficiency (within a point on each with the Bonnies having a slight edge). Kenpom has us as 3 pt favorites at home and a 4 pt underdog when we play them at their place next month. Bonnies projected to be 9-9 in conference vs. 8-10 for us (tied with LaSalle).

Bonnies have won 7 of their last 8 (lost on the road to #135 Buffalo by 5). Bonnies lost 3 of 4 early in the season when Osun was injured.

I'm guessing that they do it on a pretty regular basis. Dayton played in Philly vs LaSalle and St. Joes (Thursday and Sunday) to begin their A10 schedule. St. Louis also has back to back away games in Philly later in the year. Makes sense to do it especially with the more "western" schools.

Not sure what to think after yesterday, but one thing is for damn sure, we'd better get off to a better start or something is really broken. We've had 2 games in a row with atrocious starts, so you'd figure guys would be ready to play.

The Bonnies have a dynamic offensive scheme and Osunnyi is a beast. We cant hang with them either.

"George Mason’s 11-2 non conference record would raise eyebrows if not for the weak schedule they played.

Their losing to vcu by 13 is no embarrassment. I was very surprised to see that vcu with a +6.4 TO margin had it taken to their strength. G Mason forced them into 18 turn overs. We can’t get sloppy with the ball especially if JAVON GREENE is near.

They will have 6K plus fans with a BIG band that gets them pumped. Attended one game there with my son and grandkids some years ago and Bona fans were spread out and a non factor. We won.

AJ WILSON at only 6’7 has 50 blocks (#1) and protects the paint. Barring injury, I expect OSUN to be #1 shot blocker at season’s end.

Last March we beat them by 11 but WILSON played only 3 mins. DOM and KYLE hit 10 of 18 TREYS & had 20 pts each.

They do not rely on the TREY, taking about the same # as us and hitting 31% to our 34%.

They defend the TREY well. Allowing only 29% (#3).

Our D MIGHT present problems to them. Like us they don’t put up a lot of points. Same as us at 69 ppg.

OSUN and KYLE’s performances show they are getting healthier. We finally saw the JOHNSON we expected at the 2.
We won’t rush JAREN back unless he is healthy. Would love to see him back as he is needed.

Hope the GW game began a trend of getting to the line a comparable # of times if not more than our opponents."

If you multiply by 2 and then add 300 maybe lol

OSUN vs AJ will be an instant classic. Rarely do we get to see two similar shot blockers like this go toe to toe. Both get in too much foul trouble and both can take bleh shots. Gonna be worth ticket price itself.

they have two super sophomore guards who I think are a bit overrated. Lofton can ball though for sure.

need this one to keep the faith. 3 game losing streak doesn’t feel great. Get on the right track boys.
