Team Stats: Fun to read but VERY misleading given their competition to date.

Ferrum averages101.5 points per game while giving up 61.0.

The Panthers shoot 58.9% from the floor and 40.4% from 3.
Opponents are shooting 39.2% from the field and 20.3% from 3.

They shoot 57.6% from the free throw line.

The Panthers have out rebounded opponents by 19.3 boards per game and average 10.3 turnovers per contest.

Stats: https://ferrumpanthers.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2024-25

Thoughts: They have played NO ONE so please take the stats above and below with a salt shaker, not a grain of salt. Ferrum is currently 4th out of 443 D3 teams in scoring offense and 29th in scoring defense. They rank 6th in D3 in assist to turnover ratio. It will be interesting to see if we play to the level of the competition or if we come out ready to crush them. It should be an easy win. Destroy some D3 dreams!

Discuss.

107 points is 107 points. This will be their Superbowl. On the fence whether I go or not. Appears they do have a little bit of size (6'5 6'7" 6'8" and 2 6' 4"s).

No more D3 games - EVER
call up American or Howard or Loyola-Baltimore or Navy or Morgan State

or D2 Bowie State or Gallaudet or UDC

and pay them all in tickets
I know we hate d3 games (and we should), but having any of those d1 programs only reduces our sos and net rankings when we struggle already with quality games to schedule. We already had 2 MEAC programs.

D2 school games are slightly better Since they dont count either. Regardless nothing more than a tuneup game and scrimmage much like Coppin.

i understand that point - but what is the effect on STH, fans, attendance, game income, etc., etc.

Call me crazy, but any team, regardless of division level, that wins all of its games half of them by more than 50 needs to be taken seriously. More seriously than the message boards seem to be.

I do hope that I'm terribly wrong on this, but the sort of record that Ferrum is posting indicates to me that they are already ahead of schedule in moving up a division.

I completely agree. All games should be taken seriously.

But I fully expect this game to be like the Coppin State game, where Mason executes and wins by a sizeable amount. Last thing I want is another Randolph Macon game.

Matt is absolutely right - other schools schedules are riddled with non-D1 opponents, and a lot of them have more than 1.

I would also imagine the purchase price is a lot lower for Ferrum vs Coppin St.
