Game 34: CBI Game, Loyola University, Wednesday, March 15th, 7 PM, NO TV

[Washingtonian]

Mason has opted to play in the CBI (College Basketball Tournament this year). This is the same tournament they played in 2013, losing to Santa Clara in the finals which is a best of 3 format. The first game is against Loyola (MD) on Wednesday night.

Loyola comes in with a 15-16 record and 8-10 in the Patriot League. They were 5-12 this year in road games.

Andre Walker is averaging 15.2 PPG, Jarrad Jones is averaging 15.0 PPG/6.4 RPG, and Cam Gregory is averaging 7.6 RPG.

Should be a 20 point win. Inferior opponent from an inferior league. We'll win this tournament which gets our guys 5/6 more games. It will only benefit us in the long run. Looking at the bracket I wish we were in the bracket opposite GW. A 3 game set against them would be great for building the rivalry.

It is my understanding that prior to the semifinals the remaining field (4 teams) are rebracketed. So we still have the opportunity to face them in the final. Judging by the field of teams it seems that the gw and gmu are at the top in terms of quality, so it would make sense to bracket us on either sides which, if everything pans out, would give a bit more of a series come the finals.

You should have received the email earlier this morning. The discount is $2 off the $20 price at the door. You will also be able to get your normal seats.

Weren't we on the music channel last time we were in this tournament? That channel that broadcasts a lot of live concerts?

I can't remember where that channel is but I always enjoy it when I stumble on it.

If you didn't get that ticket email I recommend you call the ticket office ASAP. No way this game isn't a sellout. When the Greyhounds come to town people start drinking vodka and binge-buying. I've already bought 30 tickets near the court. (will re-sell for $80 apiece)

Hope we get at least two home games out of this so we can come close to breaking even $ wise. It'd be nice to get a three game set with GW but I'm not sure I can handle that much of Wantanabe flopping in such a short period.

I have a large family but most live in Thailand and have never seen a basketball and cannot travel for the game on such short notice. Ping pong balls are enough, a basketball used on stage in Bangkok would blow people's minds.

I believe Donald Trump and the CBI or CIT set the price. There is not much Mason can do but offer 10% discounts for important people like myself.

I mean they probably don't factor in a $50k tourney at the start of the year. High price but considering the program needs cash for facilities but also really needs the post-season experience I'll pay it.
