Thoughts: Fran Dunphy will be retiring at the end of the season. College basketball will be losing yet another legend of the game.

Coach Dunphy has amassed a career record of 623-377 (.624) over a stellar career that has included 17 NCAA appearances and 2 NIT appearances. In 17 seasons at Penn he led them to 9 Ivy League titles (Auto bid to the NCAA tournament) and 4 second place finishes. 4th place was his worst Ivy League finish.

He then moved to Temple and inherited a horrible team. After going 12-18 in his first season then led the Owls to 6 straight NCAA appearances while being a member of the A10. When Temple made the move to the AAC he took them to 2 more NCAA tourneys to go along with the 2 NITs.

I, for one, will stand and cheer loudly when he is introduced. Best wishes to a great coach.

The Explorers come into the game on a seven game losing streak. They don’t shoot well and are not a good team defensively. We should win by double digits to finish the year 17-1 at home.

Discuss.

All-American
La Salle has more NCAA tournament appearances than us :(

To be fair they are a good deal older than GMU.

Gmu basketball wasn’t a thing really until the early 80s and la salle has been playing since the 30s.

“The program has been rated the 53rd "Greatest College Basketball Program of All-Time" by Street & Smith's magazine and 71st by the ESPN College Basketball Encyclopedia.”

Lasalle we do well against. They can’t shoot or defend. We get right and send our seniors off in style.
