Last year's game was a real blow out. I'm surprised that they didn't charge us money for the clinic that they gave us. The game was too fast for Shevon--note he only played 21 minutes. We're more athletic this year so we can hope that we keep this one closer.

This game is going to be very tough. I'd be surprised if we win, but I also think we can beat anyone in this league.

A dumb question that I've asked before: if I don't have a facebook account (and don't want to start one), will I still be able to see this game?

Another MUCH improved squad coming to the Arena on Tuesday Night... Dave Paulsen is doing a really good job in Fairfax.

Game is at 7 PM on Tuesday Night and will be shown on Spectrum Sports.

Starting Lineup:
G 4 Otis Livingston II 5’11” 168 SO Linden, New Jersey
G 22 Marquise Moore 6’2” 208 SR Queens, New York
G 3 Justin Kier 6’4” 182 FR Spotswood, Virginia
G 5 Jaire Grayer 6’4” 192 SO Flint, Michigan
F 31 Jalen Jenkins 6’7” 246 RS SR Brooklyn, New York

They are not very deep (maybe 7 deep possibly 8) but they have 4 starters averaging in double figures (Moore, Livingston, Jenkins & Grayer)... Their dynamic duo is Moore & Livingston. Moore has been a beast as a 6'2" Guard, 17.9 PPG 10.5 RPG 3.7 APG. Livingston also averages over 15 a night and is one of the best FT shooters in America at over 91%.

Good Matchup on Tuesday.

Stay the course and keep winning... Go UD!

This is exactly the kind of game where we surprise everyone. Dayton is damn good but I am remaining optimistic.

Otis went off in the last game last season, probably the only highlight of the blowout, but I think if we can keep it within 10 with ten minutes left, it will get very interesting.

http://www.a10talk.com/atlantic-10-power-rankings-minor-adjustments-intriguing-week/:

"1. Dayton Flyers, Previously #1

I’ve still got Dayton as the top team in the league, despite the success that vcu has had lately. The Flyers already have 21 wins, and after a gritty win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday, they’ve now won 6 in a row. Dayton has to play George Mason, Davidson, vcu, and George Washington to finish the regular season, but most of these games are looking very winnable. vcu is not very far behind Dayton at all right now."

"5. George Mason Patriots, Previously #6

Had the Patriots taken down Rhode Island at home, they’d be in third place in the Atlantic 10 and on a 5 game winning streak. Unfortunately, that close loss really stings because Rhode Island, Richmond, and St. Bonaventure stay ahead of the Patriots in the league standings, and this team still has to play Dayton and vcu on the road. They probably won’t get a double-bye in Pittsburgh, but the Patriots are exceeding expectations."

Couldn't figure out where to put this so I'll just put it here. This week's breakdown for ByGeorge is up. Lots of fun stuff from the wins against Fordham and Richmond. Help me out if you like these by smashing the like button or leaving comments:

As for Dayton, we've got our work cut out for us. Dayton has length all over the floor, so it'll probably be similar to the Rhode Island game in that they'll look physically superior for long parts of the game. My guess is that Marquise checks Cooke, a 6'5" scoring guard, which leaves Otis on the 6'2" Scoochie Smith. That's a mismatch in Dayton's favor. Kendall Pollard is having a fantastic season and is more than capable of matching up with Jalen on both ends. If/when we double in the post, Dayton has a bunch of good three point shooters to make us pay - they've got five guys shooting 37% or better from 3 on two or more attempts per game, including Kyle Davis at 58.3%, Cooke at 43.1%, and Williams at 42.4%.

Dayton is also one of the best defensive teams in the country, giving up 93 points per 100 possessions. We'll need a couple stud performances from our starters and a big bench contribution (hellooooo Karmari and Ian) if we're going to have a chance to pull this one out.

Brilliant work again! But I hate to see you take time off--it's too warm for snowboarding!

This game is a real tall task for anyone. They did lose to UMass (albeit at UMass) so I suppose anything is possible. I saw pieces of that game on tv---one of the uglier games I've seen this year. Dayton missed any number of layups and made many turnovers. But that may have been the one stinker that happens to every good team.

After beating us by 30+ last year, maybe they'll be overconfident, maybe their starters will all come down with stomach flu, maybe they will foul us on every possession and we'll continue to shoot 80+ % from the line. But I wouldn't bet that any of those "maybes" happening.
