I went to their game against my beloved UNH. GW was unimpressive. Their defense wasn't great (granted UNH was on from behind the arc) and their rebounding was questionable. They didn't shoot well from 3 either. They are good at shooting high percentage 2 pointers though. They have a Cavanaugh knockoff who will pick and pop from near the free throw line all day if we let him.

Lonergan used to have Yuta "The Flop" guard Otis and his length caused Otis problems. If Joseph does the same then others will have to step-up offensively. Showing more toughness now. Mason by 3. I am going to the game at the Smith Center. Any suggestions for a good bar/pub nearby where I can fill up before the game?

Ughhhh, Yuta...

He looks and plays like a Pokémon Warrior. He's been a Patriot-Killer from day one. I'll be twirling in circles when we don't have see him again.

Note: Despite any racist undertones from the above, my comment is not designed as such. It is a begrudged compliment to Yuta Watanabe.

I've seen a couple of GW's games this year (Miami, UNH, Harvard, Rider and Hampton). I think Steeves is a bad matchup for us. He has that old-man YMCA back-to-the-basket type of game. Miami's athletic bigs gave him problems, but they will give everyone problems. The other games he got his shot when he wanted it.

Controlling Steeves and Watanabe are the keys to winning. Those are the two spots on the floor that GW will have an advantage over us. And by controlling Steeves and Watanabe, I mean making sure that whatever they do against us doesn't get their teammates involved.

It seems that if we can keep games close, we can win.

Overall average margin of win: 6.3 points
Overall average margin of loss: 18.3

A10 average margin of win: 5
A10 average margin of loss: 23

GW has our number and it is going to be tough to beat GW at their home. Especially when they are desperate not to fall to 1-5 and looking at us as an opportunity to right the ship.

A win Wednesday would be much bigger than it would seem on paper.

Games like these are the ones we need more than anything. If I remember right we lost a tie breaker to them for A10 tourney seeding because we lost to them twice.

Someone please dunk all over Yuta. Let AJ play and alley ops all day long. If this does not happen - we lose.

I believe GW's local TV partner is NBC Sports Washington (formerly CSN). I can't remember ever seeing their home games show up on MASN. That said, I agree it's odd this one didn't get picked up by anyone. You would think maybe Mason could have greased the wheels to help GW make that happen with MASN if NBCSW passed on the game.

NBCSW has the Wizards game, but it seems like NBCSW+ (formerly TCN/CSN+) should be open

Per usual, as has been the case for the last 8 years, you have to contain Watanabe to beat GW. That guy is such a pain in the a**. I wish we had one like him.
