I remember someone on the old discussion board jokingly predicting a final four birth at the start of the season.

I remember a guy being interviewed for local media who confidently predicted the Final Four run, and everyone was looking to find him after it came true. I also met an alum from my father's alma mater (H-SC) who won second place in the nationwide ESPN NCAA tournament challenge that year because he picked Mason going to the Final Four. I think he said he didn't win big money, but got a nice top of the line home theater system.

That's funny, and another reason why GMU promotes "MASON" as we get mixed up with the other Georges. My family from Virginia never makes the mistake, but my family from Michigan always confuses us with George Washington.

One of my friends (former Mason cheerleader) is a UF fan, so he picked UF winning and blindly picked Mason going to the final four and losing to Florida. He was in the contention for the ESPN bracket going in to the final four, but I think he got the other finalist wrong.
