GIVING DAY 2023
Attendance at today's women's game was a record setter - above 3300
it was kiddie day so most of the attendees were elementary school children and their chaperones
they produced the most noise i have ever heard in the arena short of Mason Madness

How does Mason capitalize on that attendance?
I hope they have plans that i don't know about.

IMO - what should have been done

1) printed up a small thank you coupon and passed it out at the beginning of Q4 and/or as attendees exited the arena offering
a) BOGO free ticket or 50% off 3 or more tickets to the next home Saturday/Sunday Women's BBall game; and
b) BOGO free ticket or 50% off 3 or more tickets to the next home Saturday/Sunday Men's BBall game - not good for the $40 seats but good for all others

2) sold exhibit space to food manufacturers/ large grocery chains with products for elementary school kids, with samples and coupons to take to their parents-popcorn/chips/water/yogurt/candy bars, etc.

3) T-shirt sponsor #1 - a free t-shirt featuring women's bball with game date saying "i was there" - every student gets one
4) another different T-shirt for when a 3-point shot is made - 3 tossed into the crowd

5) random kids play all the timeout games and winners get 2 free tix to a Saturday/Sunday women's game

6) definitely need the popcorn toss from the ceiling today, as well as Chik-Fil-A

just my opinion

1. I think the title of this post should be changed to "More ideas I have to increase attendance"

2. You should email Mason Athletics about those ideas

I love going to women's games and I like to support the team but I swear the Green Room is absolutely a disease pit during ladies games

Every time I go in there I feel like at a minimum I contracted some kind of mix of leprosy, COVID, and at least 3/4 blown AIDS

I feel like I should get a Thank You card for just being brave enough to enter

It was a big game against Saint Joe's who is arguably our chief rival for the Women's A10 BB title this year.

A raucous environment was crafted specifically for this game.

It shows the folks in the fieldhouse have potential and might be on the right track.

I think popcorn toss and such should be back. But they don't need to give away BOGO for women's tickets. The tickets are affordable. For the men, I think they are too expensive, so we choose to sit in the corners, but they can't lower tickets without upsetting how they have done season tickets. Hopefully the kids had such a great time that they will bring their family back to another game and that is enough promotion.

back from Econ Class

EBA seats at least 8k people
but there are a fixed number of games per season
so supply is fixed on a per game basis
but this fixed supply is also perishable on game day basis
the profits from any unsold seat on gameday are lost, but potentially partially recoverable with an increase in future demand

so the bogo uses the demand from last week's game to increase demand for a future game - especially where that demand was not likely to exist

Given that the game in question was "sponsored" by FFx County Neighborhood & Community Services, does anyone know if that agency underwrote part/all of the cost of the tickets of those attending who were from FCN&CS?

Or does the "sponsor" just pay some sort of fee for the honor of being recognized before the game with their attendees paying some kind of discounted group rate? Anyone know what the group rate is?

GIVING DAY 2023
Here’s a wild idea to boost school spirit: Mason could offer a shuttle service to Commanders games, giving students the chance to tailgate there. Let’s face it, at most colleges, the real fun is in the tailgating, not necessarily the game itself. With a massive tailgate just down the road, this could be a great way to bring students together and create some memorable experiences! Plus it’s cheaper than funding a football program lol
