I'll try to update this weekly as our three guys continue their seasons:

Ronald Polite (Oxon Hill) - no games yet. First game is scheduled for Saturday, December 14th against Bedford Academy in the Bishop Loughlin Invitational. Oxon Hill's schedule can be found here: https://clipperathletics.com/teams/2696970/boys/basketball/varsity/schedule

Tyler Kolek (St. George's School) - first game was last Sunday. St. George's won 91-68 over St. Andrew's in the Zero Gravity Prep Classic. Kolek had 34 points and was named the tournaments most outstanding player. It was St. Andrew's first home loss vs. an in-state opponent in 87 games.

Their next game is tonight vs St. Sebastian's. They also have two games this weekend - Saturday against Brooks and Sunday vs. New Hampton School in the NERR Scholar Roundball Classic. New Hampton is where current assistant Pete Hutchins was a head coach for 9 seasons. St. George's schedule can be found here: https://www.stgeorges.edu/athletics/teams/winter/basketball/boys

Malik Henry (Longview High School) - Texas must start basketball very early because Longview is already 9-3 on the season. Last night they beat Nacogdoches 56-36. Henry had 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Two of Longview's losses were in an invite-only tournament - both against state ranked teams. There are a few newspaper options for Longview, but they all only let you read a few articles before you have to pay. Most of the stat lines I've seen on him have him scoring around 15 a game with 10 boards. I'll try and see if I can find something better to track his stats over the year.

It looks like they have a tournament coming up this weekend Mt Pleasant Tournament this weekend along with a game next Tuesday against John Tyler - the Longview schedule can be found here: http://w3.lisd.org/athletics/lobos-basketball/

A lot of the box scores are hard to find, so if someone else finds any info, feel free to share:

Ronald Polite (Oxon Hill) - the Clippers won their first game this season against Bedford Academy (N.Y.) 57-51. Polite had 21 for Oxon Hill including 8 for 10 from the line and one 3 pointer. It doesn't look like they play again until after Christmas. They are currently ranked 12th in the Washington Post top 20.

Tyler Kolek (St. George's School) - Last Wednesday, St. George's got their 2nd win of the season beating St. Sebastian's 71-63. The only info I can find on the game said that Kolek and fellow senior Sam Adusei combined to score 42 points.

On Saturday, St. George's had a late lead slip away and lost their first game of the year to Brooks 67-60 . Kolek scored 20 in the loss.

St. George’s played again on Sunday at the Scholar Roundball Classic against New Hampton School. They lost a close one 84-79. Kolek led the way for St. George's with 25 points including 5 threes.

Malik Henry (Longview High School) - Longview played in the Mt. Pleasant Tournament over the weekend. I couldn't find individual box scores, but Malik Henry earned Most Valuable Player honors and lead his team to the championship. He averaged 15.6 points, 10 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in the tournament, including 17 points and 9-for-11 from the free throw line in the Lobos’ 52-41 win over Naaman Forest in the title game.

For his efforts, Henry earned East Texas Player of the Week honors for games played Dec. 9-14.

A lot of Henry's highlights can be found on the Longview Hudl page: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10402386/Malik-Henry

GIVING DAY 2023
Looks like there's another walk-on mentioned before, 6'8" Jake Nichols. Spent this senior year at power house Brewster Academy

Good example of highlight videos being deceptive. Kid looks like an all star in those videos, knocking down threes left and right, not a single D1 offer. Glad to have another big body on the team, hope he can give some good looks to AJ and Oduro in practice and I hope to see him in during games, because then I know we’ll be up by 25+.

LMFAO. Yo I was watching his videos getting ready to make this EXACT post!

I was thinking to myself "this right here re-emphasizes the point somebody made yesterday with the JDS video" because if he's really 6'8, and is really a reliable outside shooter, and is really a good enough athlete to dunk off one dribble from the three point line, it's insane that he doesn't have a crap ton of mid-major offers, and it's crazy that he's walking on at Mason. It's not like he didn't get exposure where he was playing.

I guess this is why you want a 10 minute highlight video instead of a 1 minute highlight video.

But, like you said, hopefully he's a useful body in practice to help Oduro deal with a face up 5, and shoot, maybe he shocks us all and becomes a contributor as an upper classman.

For real, if I saw these videos and he was a 3 star scholarship commit I would have been thrilled. 6'8, range beyond the 3 point line, and athletic is what you take away from those videos. The fact that not a single D1 coach was willing to take a flier on him tells you that there is ALOT that we clearly aren't seeing on those videos.

Who knows, might be a late bloomer defensively though and might make some meaningful contributions, in practice or games, crazier things have happened. Wish him the best and will chant for him to come in with the other walk ons. This roster has more walk-ons that I can remember from any other Paulsen team now that I'm thinking about it.

As many injuries as we’ve had the last couple seasons, he’s probably trying to make sure he has enough bodies to hold practice.

Don't know much about the kid but he played in the top New England prep league (Kolek played 3 leagues lower). His teammates included a bunch of top D1 recruits including Terrance Williams, Jamal Mashburn JR, Jahvon Garcia (UMASS), Marcus Dockery, Matt Cross, Damar Langford and Kadary Richmond. It says on their site that he is "committed to George Mason". They were best prep school in the country last year having lost just 1 game all year. Jason Smith would be a replacement coach option for me as well as he has won 7 National Prep Championships since 2010 and already recruits better than Paulsen lol...
From NERR "Jake Nichols has been limited by injury this fall". Could explain no offers... maybe not though
He also played at Boys Latin in MD before making the jump to Brewster

What we didn't see in that video is ANY lateral movement at all. The fact that his highlight video does not show a single instance of him getting down and sliding defensively leads me to believe he's probably a turnstile on the perimeter.
