GIVING DAY 2023
It's going to be a long off season but let's chatter a little about this upcoming season. I'll start it with a question.

Who gets the start next season at PG? With the SGs coming in there's no need to start Otis and Moore together.

Baring injury, there's no chance that both Marquise and Otis don't start together in the back court....I just don't see it.

Moore
Otis
Grayer
Jenkins
Relvao

I feel like we are going to have a good problem on our hands with the number of good guards we have coming in. One guy sits or gets into foul trouble, the next guy comes in and we don't miss a beat. Excited to see how it plays out.

I suspect that at least to start the season, you are going to have the experienced guys starting out of the gate.

Moore, Otis, Grayer, Jenkins.

The 5 spot is probably up for grabs off the bat between Dixon and Relvao. I also wouldn't be shocked if at some point they put Temara and Jenkins up front to start either if Temara impresses. Also, I wouldn't be shocked if Boyd or any other guard play starter like minutes if they impress as well.

It'll be nice to not have to exhaust the back court with 30-35 minutes a game since there is some depth, even if unproven.

You're going to move our returning all rookie team point guard to the bench? I don't think Coach Paulsen trusts anyone more than Otis on the entire team. I would be shocked if Otis is not only our starting point guard but one of the leaders of the squad. We shall see....

Only way Otis doesn't start is if he is hurt. Ditto for Marquise.

Other 3 starting spots are up for grabs, to varying degrees.

I'm just thinking we have 2 pgs on the team. When we played them both last season and both were tired/foul trouble at the same time we had to play Tate. Someone will have to sit on the beach and I don't see it being our senior pg and best defender.

Depth won't be an issue because we'll have seven guards, three of whom (including Kier) can play the point.

Otis is first off the bench.

Also both Otis and Moore are not suited for the 2. Moore can't shoot and Otis is too small to guard any 2. We will def have a better alternative at the 2 this upcoming season.

The situation can't be play Tate or a freshmen SG at PG at any juncture of the game.

It remains to be seen if any of the incoming guards would be better (remember, Murrell was supposed to be the best shooter of the freshman class). Defense (and who can play it consistently) is going to be a factor, too.

But this is most likely what the starting lineup is going to look like I think:

PG Otis
SG Moore
SF Grayer
PF Relvao
C Jenkins

I'm convinced Paulsen only watched Murrell's highlight video thinking it was an in-game tape of him hitting 3 after 3.

The PF in Paulsen's system has to be able to spread the floor and hit jumpers off the pick-and-pop.

That's not Relvao's game.

I don't think we will see much of him and Jenkins on the court together unless we have a lot of foul trouble or injuries.

Don't sleep on the small ball lineup with Jenkins at the 5, Abram at the 4 and Moore, Livingston and Grayer at the guard spots.

Abram is working his butt off in the gym and I think he's going to surprise a lot of people the next 3 years.

we need to sign a JUCO big man. A role similar just like Shevon Thompson or a Daryl Monroe meant to our lineup....

Respectfully disagree.

No need to hurt the development of our young bigs by giving their playing time to somebody who will only be in the program two years.

Paulsen is building the program to be sustainable with four-year players and I agree with that approach.

Why take shortcuts? We're most likely not a postseason team next season anyhow.

Are we playing in an early season tournament this upcoming season?

Haven't seen us listed anywhere yet, but I can't imagine we won't get a call eventually.

The last I saw, there were still a bunch of tournaments trying to fill out their fields.
