vcu is a complete team. They have an offense to complement their great defense, we do not. Pretty disappointing.

Death. Taxes. Getting embarrassed by vcu when it matters.

Edit: maybe this fuels the team?
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Skinn totally out coached in second half.
No offense. Reality is sometimes hard to accept. Too many non contributors on this team. How have they won 21 games.?
But it's a step in the right direction.
Maybe Mason can get in the NIT

This and the Marquette game were two prime examples of us missing a true PG to control the game on the offensive side of the ball.

We also shot ourselves in the foot with poor FT shooting and giving up offensive rebounds at the worst possible times.

I said before the game that this could easily be a double digit loss if we didn’t shoot well and that exactly what happened.

It’s beyond obvious that the vcu staff knew how to adjust to our scheme at halftime and cook us. They saw something because suddenly they spread us out and cooked us. Add to the fact they started swatting and getting steals and bounces, it was all over.

Super frustrating to see us lose once again to vcu. It’s happened time and time again, especially when it matters most.

Now all mason can do is look to bounce back and finish strong over their final 4 games to get ready for the a10 tournament. The poor showing will most likely knock us off any bubble consideration. Vegas knew to set the line the way it was.

We somehow score 70, we win.
Or at least force OT. ;)

I wish I was more pissed off about this loss, but the more talented and better coached team won. That’s not a dig on Tony but more of a compliment to Odom, who obviously made a ton of halftime adjustments on both ends of the court.

Our offense is dreadful, so we will only go as far as our defense can take us. Let’s start with a bounce-back win Wednesday.

Let’s be a little bit fair. Did anyone think we were going to go 17-1 in conference? We win because we play defense. And even in this game they held vcu to 30% from 3. They just happened to take 30 of them. And we shot terribly and couldn’t keep up.

Next up for CTS and staff: Point Guard and Shooters.
Which we have been saying all along. And I'm sure Tony knows it too.

We finish with a pretty easy schedule: La Salle and Fordham at home, Duquesne and Richmond on the road.

Duquesne is the one game left that really scares me but this team doesn’t really blow anyone out so hold onto your butts.

I'll be at Duquesne. In the corner next to Mason bench. Nervous, but I think they'll pull it out.

14-4 or 15-3 would be still amazing for our program. The schedule on paper gets easier but none of these teams will be easy. Hopefully we can take care of business.

Having a point guard isn’t going to solve all offensive efficiency woes. Sure it can help bring the ball up and maybe we move the ball a little more. But we don’t score in enough possessions for it to matter. Our guys just don’t put the ball in the hoop enough. Period.

In addition, both Maddox and Anderson are at career low percentages. I’m not sure how you can plan for that, when both of these guys addressed the need for shooting.

If someone has more of a technical answer on what is wrong here I’d love to hear because I really don’t know what else the staff could have done. They brought in the right pieces and depth. There’s just under performance.
