vertrailvaughnsThe Mean Green Blog has confirmed that Vertrail Vaughns will transfer to the University of North Texas and play there for his final season of eligibility. Vaughns started every game in the 2011-2012 season, but saw his minutes diminished as a reserve guard during this past year.  Good luck to you, Mr. Vaughns, and thank you for your time as a Patriot.

Vertrail Vaughns, a 6-2 guard who spent the first four years of his career at George Mason, confirmed this afternoon that he has committed to UNT and will transfer to the school and play his final season with the Mean Green this year.

“My gut feeling led me there,” Vaughns said. “I liked it there and it gives me a chance to be close to my family. I feel like it will be a nice environment.”

UNT sold Vaughns on the idea of playing both the point guard spot and on the wing next season, an approach that will allow him to develop his ball-handling skills.

UNT is entering its second season under Tony Benford and has several of its key players returning, including leading scorer Jordan Williams and fellow guard Chris Jones.
