Braydon O'Conner was the PG last year at 6'4 and Cam was about 6' even.
if I'm not mistaken, Brayden was more like a Point Guard by committee and thrust into that role last year because of KD's antics. I think the staff recruited him as more of a combo guard.

Same is true of Cam. He wasn’t a true point either, but got help from Hancock and Cornelius.

Getting back to Peyton. I'm a realist and his recruiting list is less than awe inspiring, most offers are from schools below the A10. He isn't even ranked according to 247. Don't get me wrong, I hope he's an under the radar kid who turns out to be a stud but I don't see him playing next year. He's like every other recruit we sign. If he isn't as good as advertised he'll move down. If he is a stud, he'll leave and move up. Until NIL is fixed this will be the norm. Sometimes the truth hurts.

And before people start pissing on this post, consider the following misses, all within the past several seasons:

Gio Emejuru
Bryson Cokley
Justin Begg - wish he had stayed
Austin Ball
Devin Dinkins
Justyn Fernandez
Elvis Nnaji
Blake Jones
Jamal Hartwell
Mike Gray
TJ Gadsden
Bahaide Haidera
Greg Calixte
Goanar Mar
Jason Douglas-Stanley

I could go on forever with hyped players and recruits who absolutely bombed at Mason. It's not an exact science.

Again, I hope Peyton is the exception to the rule. I'm just not going to bet the farm he's a four year starter. I'm a homer, I just won't be a blind homer......

I hear you as always.

I will say his offers improved after he went to The George’s School and then he prepped in Georgia.

He visited URI and was going to go to UMD for a visit.

It may mean nothing but I also encourage you to take a look at his highlights. I immediately thought he’s as quick or of the same cloth as a Baraka Okojie.

Does that mean he’s going to be amazing? No. Does it mean that he’s going to suck? No.

But considering he worked his butt off to get noticed, who was noticing him AND the tape I saw on him, I think we got a good one.

I try to have little to no expectations for incoming freshman. We have had way too many highly rated recruits flame out and plenty of unheralded recruits turn into legends.

One of the best examples for me is Patrick Holloway vs Jordan Miller. Both All-Met players but one got a lot of attention by the recruiting circuit, one got pretty much no D1 offers. And look how they both turned out.

Anyway, would love for any and all of our freshman to be studs but I don’t expect anything out of any of them before they step foot on the court.
