Mbargorba Back on the Market

Many Mason fans were upset back in 2011 when 7’0″ center Blaise Mbargorba picked to play at SMU over George Mason. The good news is Coach Hewitt and staff might get a second chance.

Mbargorba, from Heightstown, NJ, announced yesterday that he will be transferring from SMU and is looking for a new home. Landing Mbargorba will not be an easy task, look for many teams with scholarships available to jump into the mix for the former top 100 recruit. Mbargorba sat out last season after having shoulder surgery, so he would still have four years of eligibility remaining.

Both Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt made Mbargorba’s final cut in 2011. Vanderbilt looks to be out of 2013 scholarships as they have one player signed for the 2013 class even though there wasn’t a senior on last year’s roster (and nobody is transferring). Virginia Tech filled its last scholarship last week when Devin Wilson verballed.
