How should you handicap the Atlantic-10 race going forward?

About two weeks ago, it looked like the Atlantic-10 race would be a battle for second place. Prior to Jan. 31, VCU had won 12 consecutive games, including its first seven in league play. Having already beaten Rhode Island on the road plus Davidson and George Washington at home, it really seemed like the rest of the league would be jockeyed for position behind them, trying to accumulate wins for an at-large berth.

Fast forward two weeks later, and all of those assumptions have proven to be faulty. VCU’s point guard and emotional leader Briante Weber was lost for the season in that Jan. 31 game to Richmond. Leading Atlantic-10 player of the year candidate Treveon Graham has had a high ankle sprain since that aforementioned win at Rhode Island
