David Verburg wins Men’s 400M at USATF Championships

George Mason graduate David Verburg won the men’s 400 meters at the USA Track and Field national championships this afternoon in Eugene, Oregon, finishing in a time of 44.63.

Verburg, a four-time CAA champion at 400 meters from 2010 to 2013 for the Patriots, has risen to become one of the top runners in the world at his distance. His international career includes gold medals as part of the US 4×400 meter relay teams at the 2013 World Championships, 2014 World Indoor Championships (setting a new world indoor record in the process), and 2014 and 2015 World Relay Championships.

His victory today at the national championships will give him a chance for individual glory at the World Championships in Beijing, beginning August 22.
