Ahh, summer. Not much going on in green and gold land, but there was this “Conference Catchup” from’s Matt Norlander, who chimed in with a look at the A-10 and had some nuggets about the Patriots. He notes the renewed rivalry with VCU, leaves Mason out of his top five of the league, but he likes the make-up of the A-10 moving forward as potentially “the fifth-best conference” in Division 1 in any given year.

One thing is undeniable: the stage Mason will play on now is of a much higher profile. It will be exciting for Patriot fans to get the feel of the new league and its level of play.

Norlander writes, “The A-10 will immediately compete with the American and the new Big East, quite possibly getting tossed in a three-way conversation over which league is better. They’ll all have teams overlapping each other geographically, so it should be fun to examine next season.”

“George Mason, Davidson: In. George Mason coming in for the fall will be good and interesting, particularly for VCU, as the in-state rivalry from the CAA days now extends into this conference.”
