Don’t even remember seeing us offer this kid, gonna have to do some research. Getting kinda clogged in that wing slot between him in 2021, Daddy, Otis, and Millers senior season.
Nice article about his recruitment. I suspect the prep school year helped him a lot. https://www.prephoops.com/2019/12/recruiting-report-tj-gadsden-2021/
Don’t know much about him, but sounds like the typical Paulsen “under the radar” kid who is just starting to come into his own. Welcome TJ!
I agree although I suspect that it'll work itself out. What I do like is there is a focus on upgrading the athleticism that the program has compared to other programs in the A10. Last night, GW got a 6'8 athletic kid from New Zealand and this to me seems like its in the same thought process. This all goes back to the comment Dave made about not having "the horses", and since that comment hes gone out and gotten Jordan Miller, Otis Frazier, Malik Henry, etc
Based entirely on the single 2 minute highlight video I just watched Miller looks like a good comparison for a starting point in how he plays. Lanky slasher with a serviceable jumper from the baseline if he’s open. Def see itself working itself out this season. I think one of our wings will transfer after next season.
Yeah that makes sense. I can see him playing the 3/4 along with Frazier and Miller . The 2-4 will be interchangeable with these few pieces on defense. The upgrade in athleticism is really apparent.
I think I saw him play a couple times versus Flint Hill and someone in the IAC. I think he transferred in from somewhere but could be wrong. Wasn't one of their main scorers but grabbed a lot of boards in the games I saw if I remember correctly. Welcome!!!! Glad to have you...
I like that he's decisive with the ball (at least in the highlights). Athleticism doesn't mean anything if you catch a pass and wait 3 seconds for the defense to adjust while you decide what to do next.
Our team is going to look completely different the next few years. Lots of length and versatility. And more coming (hopefully)...
I really like his ability to finish and his finesse in the lane. Dunks are great, but he seems to have a good enough handle and touch to score when he has to navigate defenders. If Paulsen has enough healthy bodies to commit to being a pressing team, I could definitely see TJ being a nightmare for opponents at the top of the press.
If there is a HS basketball season in 2020-21, watch this kid blow up just like Polite did. Our staff is doing a good job of finding kids whose best ball is still ahead of them.
He's been on our verbal commits page for a long time. Also, Otis supposedly can play the 2? If Otis can play the 2, then you can have Otis and Miller/Gadsden/Dady on the floor at the same time. Here is a longer highlight video if you haven't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=sV1JdT-veTg&feature=emb_logo
I hope is a real good player for us, but I am not impressed by videos like this one where about 90% of the content is comprised of dunks and layups.
No clue on this kids talent as I have never seen him play. Sounds like mostly everyone Is in that same boat. A highlight video is exactly that. Now if we can find game tape to analyze that is another thing lol
