The two recruits I was most excited about over the last few years were Mar and JDS.

Don’t ever listen to a thing I say about recruiting.

I'd be for that as well, provide some leadership experience and an extra body in practice.

Hard to find a grad transfer who is willing to accept bench minutes ...

Disagree with the assumption that our starters are so solid a grad transfer coming in is crazy talk. A legit PG or a center would definitely play on this roster

Grad transfer bigs are like unicorns. I would love for Oduro to be a backup next year but probably not realistic.

So now I'm going counter what the consensus is on here - Polite is going to be a bust and Kolek will be the real deal.

I'm guessing that Mar will transfer to a D-II program. Any guesses whether it will be D-I or D-II?

There are a bazillion liberal arts schools in Minnesota he could transfer to to finish off his career. There are, in fact, 9 division 2 schools there. In fact, one right in his hometown: Minnesota State University, Mankato

    https://augustafreepress.com/george-mason-forward-goanar-mar-to-enter-transfer-portal/:

"'I’ve really enjoyed my time at Mason, but I’ve decided to move on to finish my career,' Mar said. 'My teammates and coaches mean a lot to me and I really appreciate how they’ve helped make my experience at Mason special. I also want to thank Mason Nation for all of their support during my time in Fairfax.'

Mar scored 488 career points in a Mason uniform while tallying 254 rebounds and 58 assists over his three seasons.

'Goanar has been a valuable member of our program and has represented Mason with incredible integrity and character on and off the court,' head coach Dave Paulsen said. 'He has been one of my favorite players to coach. I certainly understand and support his decision. We will miss him and wish him the absolute best. He will always be a member of Mason Nation.'"

    https://unipanthers.com/news/2020/4/15/mens-basketball-sign-goanar-mar-and-drew-daniel.aspx:

"'We are excited to add Goanar and Drew to our recruiting class,' said Head Coach Ben Jacobson. 'They have demonstrated a great work ethic in the classroom, on the court and have proven themselves as teammates and winners. We have known Goanar for a number years and have always been impressed with his mentality and approach. He is a tremendous defender and brings a wealth of experience that will immediately impact our program.'"

"Goanar Mar joins the Panthers via George Mason University where the 6-7 forward played three years. He started every game for the Patriots as a freshman averaging 10.9 PPG, 4.4 RPG and shot 35 percent from beyond the arc. Mar played in 19 games as a sophomore due to injury and competed in 31 games as a junior. He played prep basketball for DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mar led DeLaSalle to four-consecutive 3A state titles and was one of five finalists for the 2017 Minnesota Mr. Basketball Award. Goanar is the son of Elizabeth Jiech."

Surprised by this, good for Gonar though. UNI taking a flier on him sitting for a year to get fully healthy id imagine.
