WaPo: Mason, GW finally kick-start rivalry with Patriots’ move to A10

    I think we can finally put to rest the notion that we were never invited to the A10 in 2012. There was nothing more obnoxious than all the VCU pricks holding that over our heads, and crying about our joining this year as a scrap pick-up for McGlade to salvage the league.

    I continue to believe that in 2012 it was a mutual decision to wait at least 1 more year, based on the A-10 having 2 candidates ready to go, and on Tom O'Connor wanting to wait and see what happened with the Big East and to siphon one more year of NCAA dollars from the CAA. Plus, last year's team was not equipped to be competitive in the A-10, but they had a decent shot of winning the CAA.

    Whether there was a formal invitation in 2012 is irrelevant because TOC got it right. If VCU fans want to mock us for making a series of very good decisions and cashing a fat check along the way, then let them.
