Conyers should resign
Franken should resign
Moore should drop out or go to jail
Trump should resign
Garrison Keillor published this in WaPo last night.
And then this happened today.
Good news everyone!
Flynn cops a plea and is now cooperating with the Mueller investigation. Lock her up? No Mr Flynn, Lock him up!
Don’t blame me, I voted for this Republican Party.
If you had Blake Farenthold in the Dirtbag Pool, please come claim your prize.
I have to say I'm shocked on this one. Wouldn't have expected it from this guy.
Former Congresswoman Corrine Brown sentenced to 5 years for running a scam charity.
Former Florida Democratic Rep. Corrine Brown was sentenced on Monday to five years in prison for mail, wire and tax fraud involving a sham charity.
A jury convicted Brown of stealing money from a bogus charity, One Door For Education, which purported to give scholarships to poor children but instead filled the coffers of Brown and her associates.
Earlier this year, One Door President Carla Wiley pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud after it was determined that she had deposited $800,000 into the foundation's account over four years. Over that time, federal prosecutors say it gave one scholarship for $1,000 and that Wiley transferred herself tens of thousands of dollars.
Al Franken resigns for roughly the same issues that Trump is accused of. Too bad the GOP turns a blind eye on their bad behavior.
Al Franken hasn't resigned. He says he will in the coming weeks (plural) but apparently not until the dems can use him for a couple more key votes while the Senate is in session.
It's pretty clear from Franken's statements that he still doesn't think he really did anything wrong and was forced out. Does anyone really believe that if MN's Governor was a Republican this would have happened?
But yes, it is too bad that the GOP is turning a blind eye. The Roy Moore acceptance by the RNC is every bit as bad as the DNC turning a blind eye to Bill Clinton being a rapist.
Rep. Trent Franks, one of the most socially conservative members of the House resigned from Congress after it was revealed he asked female staffers to be surrogates for him and his wife who were struggling to have a child. Improper? yes but given the nature of other recent allegations against famous people, this is small potatoes. I suspect his motives were good, just the way he went about it was bad.
What are opinions on the other issues of the day--Tax Bill, Jerusalem move?
Mason economist Bryan Caplan on the value of a college education. Worth reading.
He offered one of them $5 million apparently, which would be incredibly unethical.
What key votes? The Democrats can't stop anything coming through the senate, and his not being there wouldn't change any filibuster calculus either.
How so? I mean certainly inappropriate to ask an employee to do this, but why does the $5 million offer make it more so?
Arizona law (the state the lawmaker is from) prohibits surrogate mother contracts as does the District of Columbia. So maybe unethical isn't the right word...
That would put it as unlawful.
Let's revisit this.
Moore still in the race and attacking the women as liars
Trump still President and attacking the women as liars.
Franken hasn't resigned.
But yes, Moore and Trump are embarrassments.
Interesting. I was not aware and appreciate that info.
Seems like a lousy law at first impression that penalizes infertile couples.
