Alright guys, we're about 10 days out from the season opener. Let's stir up some discussion with some 2017-2018 predictions. Predict anything from our record, starting lineup or some outlandish bold predictions. I'll start:

    Starting 5
    PG- Otis
    SG- Kier
    SF- Grayer
    PF- AJ
    C- Relvao

    6th man: Ian Boyd

Record: Slightly optimistic, hard to factor in the Cancun games but around: OOC: 9-4, Overall: 20-11
    (range anywhere from 18-21 wins)

    Scoring Leaders: Otis (16ppg) , Grayer (15ppg) , Kier (8-9ppg)

Surprise wins (relatively speaking): Auburn, GW, VCU

Bold Prediction: We win the Cancun Challenge. Calixte eventually emerges as our starting Center.

What are some of your predictions?

I’m usually terrible at this but what the heck

    Starting 5

    Otis
    Kier
    Grayer
    Boyd
    Relvao

    6th man A.J.

    Top freshman scorer: Mar

    Overall leading scorer: Grayer

19-12 overall, but not making the NIT- should be around the 7 seed again and about 9-9 in conference again

The team improves in some areas, but in some areas the immaturity and inexperience continue to show. But by the time February rolls around they are playing really good basketball setting up for next year.

That would be quite the impressive out of conference run!

22-9 Overall record. We have a shot at winning the A10 Tourney

I will go with the consensus on starting players. Nothing to point to anything different.
    Starting 5
    Otis
    Kier
    Grayer
    Boyd
    Calixte

    6th man - Kier

    Top Scorer -- Otis

Top Freshman Scorer -- I really don't know.

We beat VCU at least once. Possibly both times
Vurbel does NOT get caught vandalizing VCU property
Jollay does NOT get charged with any public drunkeness or lewd behavior
GreenLantern sits through 100% of our overtime games
Pikapp will have his hidden bourbon flask in at least four home games.

Meh, probably not making any games this year. Might for Homecoming but that'll be to just drink with some friends.

I'll still probably be charged with something, though. Everybody blames me for everything.

No chance this team wins 20 games unless we play in some dogshit postseason tourney. Even then we lose to Loyola. You're all hopeless homers.

I call bullshit - you will be there sir and I don't believe you believe we won't win 20.

Say it isn't so Jollay -- say it isn't so.

While I wouldn't call them losers, I do agree with the 20 win season. There is no way we hit 20 wins. If we do, then we've found our new God in Paulsen.

I know our team is young this year, and I think its foolish to expect us to improve after losing Moore and Jenkins. But looking at the schedule I see plenty of winnable games. WE certainty can have another 20 win season.

By no means are these locks to win because we are young. But I see us as favored going into each of these games.
    1.Lafayette
    2. Binghampton
    3. CSU
    4. Louisiana Tech
    5. JMU
    6. William and Mary
    7. N.C Central
    8. Georgia Southern
    9. Morgan State

And if we spilt the a10 conference games maybe pull off an upset. Not sure if beating Penn State is considered an upset. But anyway that puts us right around 18-20 wins. I think that be considered a successful season especially since we have no seniors.

exactly. I really hope Mason learned its lesson. No need for a post season unless its NIT or NCAA
    Walter and Vurbel like this.

No excuse for losing more than 4 games out of conference. Other than Louisville, Auburn, Penn State and La. Tech, the schedule is softer than a bag of marshmallows stuffed inside a down pillow.

Oh c'mon there's no way we go on another win streak like that in non-conf without Moore/Jenkins

I agree, probably 9-4 OOC. The A-10 conference portion of the schedule is what is totally up in the air.

It's up in the air for pretty much everybody other than the top 2 and bottom 3 teams.

The middle 9 are going to be in a wild scramble all season and we should be right there in the thick of it.

If we can do a better job holding on to home court, we should finish in the top 6, but we have a tough home slate this season (no Fordham, no Duquesne, no La Salle), so it's going to mean having a better home record against pretty much the predicted top half of the league (minus URI).

I’m predicting a 16-15 (9-9) regular season. Hard to predict the A-10 this year. With the youth and shake up to our rotations, I think we drop an out of conference game to someone that we should be favored against like a JMU or W&M.

I feel very positive about the direction of this program moving forward, but we are still a year and a piece away (Reuter?) from being a true contender in the A-10.

Player prediction: Grayer will lead the team in points.

Bold prediction: Mason makes a run to the A-10 final but loses, giving them confidence and hunger for 2018/19.
