Since we have no more NCAA Basketball for seven grueling months, instead of the normal six months, we could use some levity; YES? Post your favorite covid-19/corona virus jokes here. I'll start...

    *****************
This is just in... FLASH! Store shelves are empty of TP, hand sanitizer, condoms, tampons, and beer...
...e x c e p t... Corona Extra and Corona Light. For obvious reasons Corona beers, if that's what you call them, are selling for 9¢ on the bottle, but still, beer drinkers just aren't buying 'em. "We don't need no stinkin' virus!!" says Joe Sixpack, "There's no lime out there that can cure it's horrible taste!"

I’ve stocked up on liquor already. 1.5L of Bulleit bourbon, 750 ML of mesquite smoked whisky from Tucson, 750 ML of Casa Noble anejo tequila, 1.5L of cheap Kirkland vodka, three bottles of Cabernet and one emergency box of wine just in case.

I’m working from home for the next two-and-a-half weeks does I need all the help I can get.

edit: also have some mixers (bitters, tonic water, vermouth, I think I have some triple sec somewhere).

A Cuban and a Irish dude walk into a bar and then they get a beer (I forget what kind) and then they DIE of the Corona Virus because they are both elderly.

It's funny cause they're old and Larranaga sucks

I'm curious to see what ESPN and the other sports networks fill their schedules with, because they collectively paid billions for the college, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS and car racing sports packages.

Is ESPN Classic still a thing? They should re-air all the big games they have rights to. Maybe move up their Jordan documentary from June to now.

I just keep thinking about how devastating this is for the fans and players. I don't feel bad for the professionals at all, but this is truly terrible for college athletes. A legit chance to win a championship for a team like Dayton only comes around maybe once every couple decades, and they will never get to see their best player in decades play again. Woof.

I wonder if they set up a Dayton Flyers support group at a local bar?

This absolutely stinks for college players...especially if you were a senior and this "was your year."

I realize no one here cares about swimming but I was I swam the first 4 years Mason had a team which was about 20 years ago. 3 weeks ago we won our first Championship and I was just thinking how crushing it would have been had it gotten canceled right before.
I feel terrible for all the student-athletes this happened to.

Hmmmmmm... it's Saturday morning. I'm going to walk down the stairs to pick up my newspaper from the porch. Yes, I am one of those never-say-die fans of a physical Washington Post newsPAPER. As I descend the stair well I am in curious contemplation regarding what today's Sports section is going to look like. I'm thinking it will be a Post-It note containing four words—ALL SPORTS CANCELLED INDEFINITELY—adhered to the front page obscuring a word in an article's title—covid-19 or pandemic or no toilet paper available for purchase until August of 2036. I'm reaching the last step, we'll see...

NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament is responsible for more than 80% of the association’s annual revenue. Insurance will cover a small portion. P5 schools who are in debt - Maryland, UConn, ? - will be impacted the most. Am I right?

edit: UConn not P5 but spends like it

UConn is going back to the Big East next year so they would have foregone their NCAA money to the AAC anyway, right?

That’s an interesting question, though, about the ripple effects financially. Could have been a huge motivation to cancel the spring championships, since the NCAA uses money from the basketball championship to fund those tournaments.

As for the member schools, missing this year is a multi-year hit since the payout for tournaments is over six years.
