Morgan State, JMU, ODU Canceled.

    I am posting this just in case the game is actually played. I zero confidence that it will. What the hell do I know? Something to shoot the bull about in the meantime.

    Morgan State is currently 1 - 1 on the season.

    Wins: Lincoln University (102-94)

    In preseason MEAC polls Morgan St. was picked 2nd in the Northern Division and 2nd overall.
    They were 15 - 16 overall last year and 9 - 7 in conference play.

    Morgan State is led by 6’4” Malik Miller (17.0 ppg & 9.0 Reb), 6’9” Troy Baxter (15.5 ppg and 5.0 reb), DeTorrion Ware (13.0 ppg), and Lagio Grantsaan (10.5 ppg). 6’1” Sherwyn Devonish was tagged in preseason articles to be the leader and “brains on the floor.” He has not performed as predicted thus far averaging just 6 ppg and 3 assists per game. Transfer Trevor Moore (9.5 ppg) from Cincinnati is expected to be an impactful player for the Bears as the season moves forward.

    Their team stats are misleading due to extremes in the schedule, see above. So, take the averages with a grain of salt. The Bears have averaged 78.5 points per game while giving up 78.0. Morgan State is shooting 45.6% from the floor and 34.7% from 3. Opponents are shooting 45.3% from the field and 24.5% from 3. The Bears have been out rebounded by their opponents by 2 boards per game.

    The game is on ESPN+.

    My prediction: This should be a GMU win. Final score Mason 75 - Morgan St. 67.

    Discuss in the hopes that we actually play this one.

    This game has been canceled, too, as well as JMU and ODU.

    From Athletics email:
    "As part of its recent pause on men’s basketball activities, George Mason has canceled a home game against Morgan State (December 8) and a pair of contests in Richmond against James Madison (December 12) and Old Dominion (December 13)."

    Assuming all goes well, the out of conference slate will be Queens College, Belmont, Howard, Coppin State,Towson.

    Lets hope they get all the games in.

    I think I'll wait until the 14th to even try to start the next game thread. No luck so far, let's try a new strategy. Sigh. Covid sucks.
