    VCU is currently 8 - 2 on the season and 1 - 0 in A10 play.

History: Including tournament play DP is just 3-8 against the Rams. We have only beaten them once at home (2/24/16) under DP.

Wins: Utah St., Memphis, Mount St. Mary’s, North Carolina A&T, ODU, Western Carolina, JMU, St. Joe’s, Davidson
    Losses: West Virginia, Penn St.

    Schedule: https://vcuathletics.com/sports/mbball/schedule
    Roster: https://vcuathletics.com/sports/mbball/roster
    Stats: https://s3.amazonaws.com/vcuathletics.com/documents/2020/12/22/vcu_cume_2021.pdf

VCU is led by 6’3” “Bones” Hyland (18.2 ppg & 2.8 reb), 6’6” Vince Williams (10.6 ppg & 5.2 reb), and 6’4” KeShawn Curry (9.4 ppg & 3.8 reb). 6’0” Freshman “Ace” Baldwin will be a player to watch for the next 4 years. The dynamic freshman has 51 assists to only 14 turnovers thus far. VCU is very deep with 11 guys averaging 10 or more minutes per game. 9 guys average 5 or more ppg. Their identity is clearly set and defined, wish that was the case for us. Although picked 9th in preseason A10 polls they seem to have gelled earlier than many “experts” thought.

VCU averages 77.4 points per game while giving up 64.7. The Rams shoot 48.0% from the floor and 34.2% from 3. Opponents are shooting just 39.7% from the field and 28.6% from 3. They shoot 76.5% from the free throw line. The Rams are currently out rebounded their opponents by .5 boards per game. They have already turned opponents over 165 times while averaging 9 steals per contest.

The game is on MASN and ESPN+.

My prediction: Captain Obvious reports nothing new. Be prepared to handle pressure for 40 minutes. At some point during the game VCU will go on a 10 minute spurt where we pee down our legs, turn the ball, and force bad shots because the clock is winding down. If the 10 minute run comes early in the game this will be a blowout VCU 85 - GMU 60. If the 10 minute run comes in the 2nd half it will look only a little bit better with the final score VCU 75 - GMU 60. Any way you slice it I see us falling to 1 - 2 in league play.

Dawn Hicks is seen crying court side after fans start a “We Love GMU and Dave Paulsen” chant in her honor.

This should be a dead thread soon, but if anyone can skirt common sense protocol rules it's our morally challenged friends to the south.

Re Fordham I can't believe LaSalle was only -5.5 tonight. Makes back my lost Mason $ and then some.

VCU music majors struggle with the "new" equipment.

Jokes aside, the VCU team Mason is facing is talented and reloading. While they are mostly young, they have a balanced roster of guards who can really play as well as some decent forwards up front. I haven't checked stats, but Stockard and Douglas have held the fort down up front for them along with Ward, with Hyland and Baldwin doing the majority of the work in the backcourt.

Hyland and Baldwin are going to be a great tandem for many years, they'll be together for the next 3 years and just getting started. Hyland can really shoot the ball and score and Baldwin has been an excellent facilitator even as a freshman.

Keys to beating VCU is always getting through their pressure, getting easy buckets, and controlling the tempo of the game. Mason hasn't dictated the pace of any game so that could be an issue. Of course, they are more athletic now, so hopefully breaking the press and getting easy buckets will be important.

Edit: Game is in Fairfax and I'm a dummy.

I would expect Mason to announce attendance at 250, the first sellout of the season (men's or women's).

Well I certainly messed that up. Haha. Thanks for the clarification @tblack33 and @Pablo . Not sure why I was thinking it was in Richmond.
