I mean, at least he’s not Malik Henry who couldn’t get in even when the entire front court besides him fouled out of the game.
not when you’ve already played. But I also don’t really advocate throwing a freshman who hasn’t played in 3 games plus quarantine in a game in the second OT, but still.
The idea that she's coming in defiance of the order not to fly to see your family and she's going to pull him out of the team in the middle of the season for four games during winter break?! Hopefully she turns herself back around if that's the case, or if Greene goes along with such a plan he never comes back to campus.
https://www.espn.com/college-sports...ra-year-eligibility-all-winter-sport-athletes: "All winter athletes in NCAA Division I sports will be given an additional year of eligibility, and all football programs will be allowed to compete in bowl games -- regardless of their records -- as part of one-time rule changes in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic."
If Dave is the disciplinarian he appears to be, why put Green back in the game at all? Is it because the infraction wasn’t that bad, or was it more likely that he was so desperate for a win that he sacrificed his principles? What kind of message does that send to the team when a punishment — justified or not — ends out of necessity and not contrition? Do you remember the moment when Gene Hackman won the respect of his team in Hoosiers? When he went with only four players despite having a fifth player available who had been punished and said to the ref, “My team’s on the court.”
I meant to type “pretends” and it got autocorrected, but now that sounds a little harsh. Let me know if “appears” works better for you.
That depends on if Otis and Malik were actually available or if they were still being punished too (or unavailable for other reasons -- illness, injury). Not sure sending 4 players out at the end of the game necessarily sends the right signal either. It was also a tie game after Haidara fouled out. Could you imagine going to a 3rd OT because you refused to put Javon back in?
No question about that. If he was open to bringing Javon back, I just don’t get why you don’t bench him to start the second half and then put him in. The timing and circumstances just struck me as odd.
"Appears" sounds much better than "portends" or "pretends". BTW, Javon was suspended last season for a violation of team rules (a 81-78 loss at Duquesne on February 29) and did not start the following 2 games - https://www.rotowire.com/cbasketball/player.php?id=12924.
