I’ll disagree on it shouldn’t have been played. The intent behind this game was to be a tuneup before A10 play with two solid draws away to start. This should have been a tuneup game for guys like AJ and Miller to get into their groove going into conference play. Instead, they looked like they fell into a rut.
I'm assuming the only reason why the game was scheduled is because they had to cancel 5 other ones and Paulsen thought he needed another game before conference play started. But, yes, $20,000 for a program like ours to shell out is a lot of money right now.
I know Miller didn't shoot well from 3 yesterday, but he was 3-4 in the first half, and he was open several times posting up his man in the second half and they never got him the ball. He could have easily has 12-14 points I think, if they were moving the ball properly.
In addition to the guaranteed money for Norfolk State, I'm guessing that it cost more than a few bucks to operate the EBA (albeit mostly attended by cutouts).
with a young team you need as many games as you can before you get into competitive games. The more reps the better.. Towson, VMI and Norfolk were all games that mason was supposed to win to get rhythm going into the a10 games. They awkwardly won 2 and lost one.. the team is 4-2 but they could easily be 1-5 (I’ll count Howard as not close). I’m ready for Dave to go personally. HE will never be able to pull in talent, just once i want Dave to pull in a kid who got recruited by bigger schools and was considered a steal. We are going to get waxed in a10 play.
I don't think Dave is ever the type of coach to say "its on me". But from the tone of the quotes, it sounds like he knows this loss was really bad and that he needs to find a way to fix things. Fast.
You and I have mentioned this a lot in the past Pablo. It is mind boggling. I've never heard him say "I need to do a better job" or something to that effect. It's always the players fault.
